Holy shit, the quality on Pimax 4K looks really good compared to Vive.. It always bugged me with that "net"-looking screen on my Vive. I might consier getting the Pimax. $300 is a decent price. I don't think my dick can wait for gen 2!@Casshern2 never say you want to try Rift or Vive ever again. Your Samsung S8 and my Daydream are between the Rift CV1 and Pimax 4k. I know mine is better than the CV1 look, for sure.
BTW.. this is on the page for the Pimax 8k prototype. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pimax8kvr/pimax-the-worlds-first-8k-vr-headset
My recommendation is for everyone to wait until the second generation hits us, its coming soon. The end of Screen Door Effect (SDE) is coming to an end for VR.
They already have the pimax 8k prototype created, and the target is Dec 2017 to backers (if you can believe that). Also more news will be coming soon on the standalone headsets with inside-out tracking, using the qualcomm 830. People think that the sale prices on Vive and Rift are for competition. No, its a firesale on old gen 1 tech that no one should be interested in anymore with gen 2 on its way. As you can see, 4k exists, is doable, and is the baseline for the future. Think of 4k as the minimum baseline for all second gen. Once you see those comparisons above, no one will accept that screen door effect anymore, at least for VR porn.Holy shit, the quality on Pimax 4K looks really good compared to Vive.. 4K displays for gaming is too hard on processing power. Games cant drive 4k displays, and no one really needs 4k on a phone. Its us VR porn lovers that are driving for higher pixel density displays. So we can see non pixelated nipples and for @maschi 's dick

@PLAboy To be perfectly honest, I only use my Vive for porn, even though I'm an avid video gamer going back almost 30 years.I am actually a pimax 4K user. It is best for viewing porn but not so great for gaming. It doesn't come with motion control. It only uses gyroscope to track head just like smartphone VR. you can upgrade it by NOLO motion controller to experience all Vive game on steam but the control is not accurate compared with Vive.
I have been keep my eyes on that pimax 8K project also. My friend backed that kickstarter because he has a monster PC. For native 8K input it is recommended to have 1080ti SLI I don't even have a 1070 yet. And there is NOTHING made for 8K VR yet. No game support it and nobody is making 8K VR video yet. So I think it is just too big a step forward.

Have you tried Vive? If so, is the difference big? The gyroscope, does it work good with movies (porn)? Does it work with virtual desktop?
Awesome! Think I'm getting one. Even if the 8K is just around the corner.I only tried Vive once, so the memory is a little fuzzy. The resolution difference is pretty big. But Vive has a slightly bigger field of view. The head tracking works perfectly with VR movies. It works with all seated VR, like virtual desktop and driving game or flight simulation game with a keyboard or normal gamepad. But I have experienced center shift a few time. Sometimes after using a while the center of the view shift to side, the customer service told me the gyroscope could get affect by magnetic field or something. however it can be solved quite simply by re-center in software.
