    Discussion about DMM website

OK, to be 100% clear on this, my suggestion is that you include metadata about the purchaser int he tags, so that (short of them scrubbing it, which is of course possible, but essentially akin to someone circumventing your DRM, which is also possible) you are able to determine who uploaded...

    Discussion about DMM website

I don't have any expectation that talking abuot it here, or even e-mailing them in Japanese, would really make a difference. Which is fine, I just don't really appreciate a response that's vaguely insulting while being factually inaccurate.

I don't know why you're fixated on the dates, but do a bit better research. The fact that the FAQ was last updated in 2013 doesn't mean that's when the change took place (which was, in fact, in 2009). http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7813527.stm To your other point, tags are already...

That has not been true for six years.

    Discussion about DMM website

I literally just made this suggestion, but, again, I would use an identifying watermark/metadata on purchased files, like iTunes, Amazon music, Safari Books Online, etc., do. Yes, of course you can scrub it but you can defeat literally any DRM scheme one way or another (if it's visible...

which they also do right now, all the time. and that's the whole point of the identifyign watermark part. No, but only one guy has to be smart enough to crack it.

    Discussion about DMM website

Well, IMO, it'd make sense to do something like they do with music or books you pay for online these days where it's not DRM-protected but it's also got a bunch of identifying metadata or some watermark to identify it as yours in case you try to illicitly share it. A little bit of digging...

    Discussion about DMM website

"Managed code" is Microsoft's term of art for code that runs inside the Common Language Runtime. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Managed_code Yes, zombie references to objects can cause memory consumption to go up but this isn't really like a traditional memory leak and it's harder to do. An...

Certainly I'd find the movie ID search useful but, like I said, I use dmm.co.jp.

I dislike the DRM aspect of it because, I mean, you're basically paying for an inferior product in that you can't just use whatever player you wanted like if you just went and downloaded stuff instead. But I am suspicious of all these "DMMPlayer killed my dog" reports.

    Discussion about DMM website

It's really, really hard to cause a memory leak in a C# program. Memory is what is "managed" about it. To be honest my suspicion is that the link between the program and the computer heating up is perceived rather than real. I guess network activity trying to confirm the license or work...

    JAV database

Isn't a centralized database gonna be kind of huge to store on each client? Particularly if you want to store images? I don't see anywhere where you can enter in new movies so I guess it's possible they're just scraping, although they don't have a complete mirror of everything DMM lists.

It's managed code; that seems rather unlikely.

    Discussion about DMM website

Is the R Player different from the DMM Player? The DMM Player isn't my favorite but I don't haev all these crazy problems (your computer is overheating when you don't even have it open? How is taht supposed to happen?).

    JAV database

Yes, I agree... so, for that reason, it's not really useful to me unless there's some sort of pattern to the item numbers that I can reliably determine.
