JAV = 1, U.S. PORN = 0
You may have caught from past entries that I’m a stickler for “reality,” as silly as that may sound, given that most porn movie situations can’t happen in real life. Perhaps this is all the more reason to maintain the “story” illusion (even when the story is steeped in gonzo) as carefully as possible, to allow viewers to lose themselves in the fantasy.
What I’m going to do is illustrate how dismally most U.S. porn fails in this regard, and then conclude with a JAV that is no less ridiculous, but provides for an example of how the JAV-makers at least try not to mock the details, and insult the intelligence of their audience.
This doesn’t mean that JAV can’t be stupid, nor that U.S. porn cannot succeed, occasionally, in remembering how human beings normally interact with one another. The KINK studio does a pretty good job, most of the time, for example, with their “role-playing” fare. (And I will provide one other specific example of a U.S. porno that runs contrary to the norm of idiocy.)
The people who are in the U.S. adult movie business, generally speaking, may have lost touch with the real world. They are in their little porno bubble, where women are easy and all men must have no other redeeming qualities besides super-sized beef sticks. They attend their annual AVN award show, pat each other in the back, and continue to depict their lopsided views of life from their crazy cuckoo’s nest.
I did not have to do any research in my presentation of stupid American porn examples, below. You can put on a blindfold and throw a dart on the U.S. porn board, and you will be sure to wind up with the typical dumb disappointment.
In fairness, the filmmakers are not completely to blame. A lot of porn viewers are not discerning. Just give them a naked woman, and they are set. There have been times when a U.S. porno gets it more-or-less right, and I have read reviews where the (sometimes trying to be politically correct) critic expresses how bothered he has been.
I can’t resist giving one example, also because of the opportunity to relate the rare U.S. porn that lives up to its potential. (Helps that the director is
Jim Powers, who does not always take the easy way out.) In
Teenage Babysitters,
Kacey Jordan arrives as a live-in maid, but the wealthy and dominating couple abuse and take advantage of her. (The wife is nicely played by
Katja Kassin, living up to her German roots in a good, stereotypically Naz-ty turn.) Kacey is very uncomfortable, and that’s the way it should be. Yet
Xcritic’s
“Wind Tunnel” wrote that the scene made him… “uneasy”? (I guess he would have felt much better if the girl fell in line without a problem, and with a smile on her face… the usual expected behavior.)

Hot And Mean is a series produced by U.S. porn giant BRAZZERS, and at least these films have an edge to them – in contrast to the other out-of-step Brazzers fare, such as
Big Tits at School or
Mommy Got Boobs or
Doctor Adventures, where often the women wantonly throw themselves at the men.
So
Hot and Mean has featured a recent entry called
“Seducing a Straight Girl” – oh, BOY! I love it when an unassuming and innocent heterosexual woman is transported out of her comfort zone by a wild and woolly lesbian. Doesn’t everyone?
And this one starts out very promisingly. Look, the innocent girl is dressed conservatively (excellent!), wears nerdy eyeglasses, and is a blonde, whereas the lezzie vixen is dark-haired (white hat vs. black hat, as in the old cowboy movies; man, do I love stereotypes). So
Celeste Star, as the “villain,” starts putting on the moves, and our heroine,
Cameron Canada… actually resists! At first, anyway, in the way that she SHOULD!
The seduction only lasts a minute, Celeste hands a note saying
“Meet me in the bathroom,” and… oh, okay, that was easy. We go to a close shot of Cameron, looking intrigued. All right, her make-up is far too heavy for an “innocent,” but we have to make some porno allowances. Then Cameron lifts her hand momentarily, and … say WHAT?
She’s got an ugly tattoo on her fingers spelling “SCAR”? When it comes to the illusion, even a drone attack on a civilian – that is, a terrorist – could not be more shattering.
It’s all downhill from here; Cameron eagerly goes to the bathroom, completely loses all of her promised inhibitions (this straight girl was a born lesbian!), aggressively goes down on unfamiliar vaginal terrain, and even reveals a tattoo of a winged skull on her back.
I know a lot of porno-heads would say, who cares? We’ve got two beautiful women having sex, and isn’t that all that matters? Sometimes, I will admit, such can be true… but if the set-up and the characters are going to be so brazenly disrespected, the following mechanical motions in sin must try very hard to do the trick.
Next, let’s take a look at a film from another porn giant, NAUGHTY AMERICA. I only needed to open a sample film arbitrarily, as NAUGHTY AMERICA can usually be relied on to be in the Bizarro world.
The one I picked was
“My Friend's Hot Mom,” with
Kristal Summers &
Derrick Pierce. I didn’t examine it closely, so don’t mind if I got the “plot” details wrong, but looks like Derrick is awakened and has some problem. He goes to the house of a friend, probably because his car won’t start. The friend is not there, but fortunately, the friend’s mom answers the door in a robe.
Derrick asks if she can give him a jump. Kristal replies, excuse me? (The scriptwriter obviously struggled to wind up with this gem of a joke.) So they go to the basement and Kristal gives the impression of looking for jumper cables (Acting!) and then stands up and puts her hand on Derrick, after Derrick offers a compliment on her looks.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t give you a jump,” Kristal mutters, and you all know where that gag will lead to.
Yes, in the U.S. porn world, it takes almost nothing for a woman to jump a man’s bones. Derrick has no trouble having fun with the beautiful blonde who sports the usual porn-ballooned breasts.
Moving on to the next U.S.-porn travesty, let’s take a look at
“Watching My Mom Go Black,” from the DOGFART studio. I decided to zero in on the episode with
India Summer, because 1) I like India Summer, and 2) With few variations, all “Watching My Mom Go Black” episodes basically follow the same unreal formula.
Mom’s son is in trouble, hanging out with a bad element. (The bad element being a black guy. Yes, porn is one of the last societal stops with an open license to exploit racial stereotypes, and as we all know, JAV is no exception to this rule.) Mom is under pressure to do something to get her kid to stop associating with the bad element.
JAV, in its usual comparative intelligence, would know just how to handle this delicious situation, where the woman is under a barrel. Let’s take, as an example, those
Friend’s Mother Violated in Front of Him films I have a fondness for. Once in a while, they deviate from the formula (where the son’s friends simply overpower the mother), and the mother finds herself in the tough spot of rescuing her son from getting beaten up by bad elements.
As an example,
Natsumi Kitahara tries to have a civilized talk with the bullies (one being the always-welcome-in-the-bullying-role, the "Un-Juvenile Delinquent"), and they force her to sit between them in a van! (SPRD-170.) Another, SPRD-308 pictured below, features the gorgeous
Misuzu Shiratori in the exact same situation. The refined and delicate women are no match for the evil brutes. Now that’s what we’re talking about!
(I can’t resist adding another great scene, from SPRD-90, where
Ayaka Miyazaki visits a sumo wrestler-type construction worker, trying to talk sense into him. The inevitable consequences are simply beautiful.)
The difference: the women do not have control, just like what we would expect in real life, where the unsavory characters would hold the cards. In U.S. porn, the women are often in control. (And maybe there is just cause, since American lawmakers can clamp down on porn producers for whimsical reasons. If the women are in control, and are “enjoying the sex,” it’s harder to prove obscenity.)
“Watching My Mom Go Black” often sinks into the depths of absurdity when the mom calls the shots with the bad black guy. The series might pull a surprise now and then (as with an episode starring
Ginger Lynn; the men were allowed to be a little more mean and aggressive), but “Watching My Mom Go Black” so goes on a vacation from reality that the mother INSISTS the son remain and watch as the mother happily has sex… as a “punishment,” for forcing the mother to surrender her virtue. (As though the mother ever complains about the sex.) What sane mother would embrace the idea of having her son watch her in the nude, let alone involved in sexual activity?
I went the distance and took a closer look at the India Summer episode… as it turns out, this was not the typical example. Once again, the mother calls the shots (it’s funny how she walks both her son and
Shorty Mac, the black guy, home to have a talk… by pulling the boys by the ears) but once they are sitting on the couch to negotiate, the reality immediately gets compromised. India starts talking like a sailor, for one thing (and not that women don’t use swear words, but it would serve the fantasy better if we are dealing with “innocent” mothers, rather than obvious porn actresses), and once Shorty confesses that she has been making his “dick hard,” India melts immediately, and spreads her legs. (
“You’ve been checking out my pussy while I’ve been fucking scolding you two?” I vaguely remember this was a line from the book, “How Women Talk.”)
India, who can be a fine actress, decides to go over the line with her improvised porno performance by… speaking into the camera! As if to say, guys, this film is a joke. (It’s fitting when her son, who had been ordered out of the room earlier, returns and expresses his outrage – by talking into the camera as well! Not many JAVs would allow for such a level of amateurishness. By the way, the reason why this episode deviates from the usual “Watching My Mom Go Black” formula is because India then promptly orders her son to leave, telling him that he does not need to watch. So we’ve got a “Watching My Mom Go Black” episode with no watching. Not that it matters.)
We can go on and on, it doesn’t matter what the production company is, you are usually going to run into laziness and lamebrained-ness when it comes to American porn. Another giant of the industry, REALITY KINGS (yes, they actually brag about being experts on reality), as another example, had a pretty good series going called
“Milf Lessons.” Nerdy women would come in for interviews to get secretarial and other jobs, only to be taken advantage of on camera. (Quite JAVvy, if you savvy.) It didn’t last long; they changed the idea to the MILF giving the lessons to younger boy toys!
I should add another giant, PINK VISUAL, at least makes an effort to be believable (one impressive move was in their
“Her First Anal Sex” series; they actually had the women picked up off the street signing releases. A wonderful reality touch which only lasted for a handful of episodes), and if I may point to one of those rare exceptions of a successful porn that I had alluded to earlier; this would be one
“Milf Cruiser” from the REALITY GANG crowd. (Another porn giant, whose product can be hit or miss.)
The idea behind “Milf Cruiser” is typical, women are picked up and taken away for sex. JAV does this too, but American women don’t lose their minds once a vibrator makes contact with their vaginas the way Japanese women do, so you’ve got to wonder how a USA MILF could possibly be talked into entering a car of potential ax murderers, and then so easily reveal her most intimate anatomical areas, forever preserved by a camera.
The answer: while sometimes an effort is made to present the situation as genuinely as possible, the viewer simply needs to suspend disbelief. Yet one episode from this series impressed me greatly, and that would be the one starring
Ginger Lea (and the tall baldie,
Christian XXX). Ginger Lea is not only beautiful, she has the rare talent to not stray from the plot requirement, in her improvised performances. The actress is a gem, and in this episode she overcame most of the ridiculousness by conveying a frazzled state-of-mind (her husband having left her stranded), and she even had conversations with herself to justify her acceptance of the abnormal sexual situation. Even when the premise is hopeless and the direction is uncaring, once in a while an able performer can salvage the situation. What a pity Ginger Lea belongs to a very small club.
Let us now move on to an example of a JAV that, while presenting the usual unlikely scenario, strives to make us swallow the nonsense as much as possible. And just as one does not have to try hard to find an example of stupid American porn, we equally don’t need to go out of our way to find an example of topnotch JAV. This one was selected almost at random.
I’m going to center on an ATTACKERS video, and there are two things going for it. One is the classy dame,
Shihori Endo. The second plus is that “
Tenant” (by now those familiar with this thread are probably aware of the “Good, Bad, Ugly and Tubby”
thread for the male actors) plays the villain, and he gives an all-out performance.

Make My Anus Bloom Wildly [RBD-295]
The movie begins with Shihori playing a loving wife, satisfying her husband. She is an angel! She sees a homeless guy lying on the street and goes to check and see if he is all right. The guy’s in obvious trouble, so Shihori figures she will take him home.
Upsy-Daisy
She feeds him, allows him to take a shower and to come to his senses. He repays her by… say, what was the name of this series, again?… oh, yes, by ATTACKING her, and to eventually go, boldly, where no man has probably gone before. That would be her soon-to-be-blooming anus.
Tenant is relentless in a particularly energetic performance, and makes mincemeat out of Shihori, bless his beastly self.
The reason why this “works” is because Shihori comes across very believably as an ordinary housewife. She has no heavy make-up or phony boob job, as good old U.S. porn may be expected to provide, nor does she have – as the non-Japanese speaker could assume – a potty mouth. She’s a nice woman, and to have this hurricane suddenly interrupt her serene life… well, one can almost believe that her husband, to her mind, is going to pale in comparison, and her attitude is going to slowly change from shock and reluctance, to acceptance.
The next day, Tenant pays Shihori a visit, and the poor lady almost has a heart attack.
Take a look at that look
Tenant treats her with utter disrespect, and she has already begun to lose her will. Below, Tenant inspects the probably once virgin terrain that he will gladly violate again and again.
The rest of the story I can only guess at; the husband, dressed in a business suit, hands Tenant some money; apparently Tenant was hired to corrupt the wife. Shihori is so ass-fixated, she is seen sticking the handle of a mop inside until the front door bell rings and she receives a vibrating dildo in the mail, which she promptly inserts in her back door. The husband catches her, and tries the new orifice on for size himself.
In a bedroom scene that follows, Tenant suddenly appears, surprising the husband but not a smiling Shihori. Soon she will be at the receiving end of a double penetration. By the film’s conclusion, Shihori catches a homeless man urinating in her yard, and she can’t resist poking her bare butt out at him. Looks like her transformation is now complete.

Akiba-Online archives for the movie are now all dead.) This is a two hour and forty minute flick, and the download is top heavy in size, because almost an hour’s worth of trailers have been included.
