meguIV: The Official Akiba-Online DVD Encoder (v1.0.1.1)

I've updated my QuickTGMC script to version 2.1 Focus in this version has been the high quality settings, with nearly every last feature of the original TGMC now fully supported. Particular attention has been paid to the "Very Slow" and "Placebo" presets which are lovely now. I've added a new...

meguIV: The Official Akiba-Online DVD Encoder (v1.0.1.1)

I focus on quality rather than size, but from what I know: It's true that the slowest settings (e.g. 221 or 222) produce smaller files because the larger temporal smoothing radius denoises more (and removes more bob-shimmer). Although it also removes grain from the source, which I'm not so...

meguIV: The Official Akiba-Online DVD Encoder (v1.0.1.1)

I see - I've recently been noticing that MeguIV is slower than a fully updated meGUI + latest plugins and I think this is the reason. Manao has actively updating MaskTools v2 of late, and his recent work has been rewriting core functions in assembly. TGMC uses these functions a lot so it...

I had problems somewhat like this with a stick of memory that went bad. If you were to get CRC errors copying files on a different disk, then that would be a sure sign. Try memtest86+ to check.

    What's the best DVD ripper?

Most of the high quality rips on this site are made with MeguIV. The easiest way to make a high-quality rip is to follow the instructions in that thread. MeguIV is Rollyco's tweak of meGUI. meGUI is an integrated front-end for a collection of ripping and encoding tools. However, use MeguIV...

Fair choice, the difference between 1080 and 720 is there - but it's really not all that much. Make sure you use the double rescaling trick from my other post, it's a big speedup with no ill effects at all. Edit: Ouch, I just realized that you mean first pass only. Well worth it for the first...

Hi-speed TGMC Substitute Updated version of QuickTGMC now available Posting this here mainly for guy and his Blu-Ray ripping adventure (can't PM him). Maybe someone else will find it useful. You can set the AR in the One-click advanced settings. Just did a tiny test and it seemed to work. Autodetect defaults to ITU formats though - to get non-ITU, you have to make the correct selection yourself But it does make me think: idol videos are shot on DV, then encoded to DVD. If the...

Ah, yes. I did say MeGUI, but most people don't realize the distinction. Post edited. The aspect ratios in MeGUI are not wrong, they just default to DV rather than DVD

meguIV: The Official Akiba-Online DVD Encoder (v1.0.1.1)

Likely that the video with my high speed settings is noisier and sharper. Noise and sharpness do not compress well. It's noisier because some of the settings switched off are blurring and degrain steps within TGMC. It's sharper because MeguIV uses an additional setting on the TGMC line...

meguIV: The Official Akiba-Online DVD Encoder (v1.0.1.1)

Most likely MeguIV will have muxed the full 4 hours of sound together with the couple of minutes of trimmed video. There are a couple of ways to correctly rip in chunks like this - I do it a lot. However, they are very manual processes and would require extensive detailed instructions. I started...

meguIV: The Official Akiba-Online DVD Encoder (v1.0.1.1)

That's because when a process runs at a lower priority, it defers to other running applications. You'll be able to run anything else you like, play a game even - it will just slow down the rip (and probably increase the chance of a crash).

Yes, I have to do this and it's easy to forget things. And you can still get crash problems (see below). System stability is an issue with long encodes, and these problems seem to be stability related. I don't know off the top of my head whether that's hot for a Q9550, but I suspect it is. Cut down the OC, or get some better cooling (maybe just try taking the side of the case off).

22fps, nice! I briefly experimented with those speed ups in anticipation of ripping blu-rays at full resolution, current settings will be too slow. Hadn't tried them properly yet, so it's good to hear that they can be so fast. Technical rippers like Rollyco and I tend to be pedantic about...

skew in ratio counts - uTorrent

You leech 1Mb (last bit of a file), then seed it back 10x (10MB), so your ratio is 10:1 (up:down). You leech the first 9Mb of the next torrent, you're back to 1:1. Leech another 10Mb, now you're 1:2. Another 80Mb and you're 1:10. Tracker can limit your ratio at any point. Ratio is total Mb...

I thought that at first - it is incorrect. There are two lines in the script, separated, but with no other relevant lines in between: sharp0 = default( sharpness, 0.25+(tr1+tr2)/6.) # strength of sharpening, 0.0 to 1.0, or more if you like sharpness = default(sharpness...

No, that script is not part of MeguIV - which is Rollyco's baby. I provided it for interest more than anything - the idea of using additional post-processing to clean up remaining artefacts after TGMC. The instructions you need to add it are in the show/hide blocks in the original post (just...

µTorrent issues - Heads up Seeding hidden from CPU Processes!

This seems to be a variant on a known bug in the current uTorrent. On another uTorrent point (maybe explaining lowleg26's problem), the recent versions of uTorrent try to use uTP by default. This is a new transport protocol that is supposed to avoid saturating your connection when you to use...

You're never going to get a huge upgrade in video quality because you're limited by the quality of your source.
