    What are you watching (movies)?

Was in the mood for something w/ Kirk Douglas so I recently re-watched Spartacus (1960). Epic cast (Douglas, Laurence Olivier, Jean Simmons, Tony Curtis, Charles Laughton, Peter Ustinov, John Ireland), and a great director (Stanley Kubrick, who had previously teamed up w/ Douglas in the classic...

what are you watching? (tv shows)

Agree with your comments and feelings above, Ceewan, and it's also worth remembering that Japan's inhumane, violent, barbaric practices stretched across many Asian countries over several decades, preceding Pearl Harbor. Just grabbed the most recent GOT off the web (S06E06). Won't post any...

    What are you watching (movies)?

Haven't seen any of the Fast and Furious movies but will check out the two you mentioned. Another one I recently enjoyed is The Black Castle (1952) w/ Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney, Jr. Not a horror movie, more of a mystery than anything else. A fun way to spend a rainy afternoon.

    What are you watching (movies)?

Starting this new thread cuz I can't find one for this topic, and don't watch much TV so can't really contribute to the TV shows one. I recently watched The Black Sleep (1956), a great grade B horror/mystery. What a cast: Basil Rathbone, Lon Chaney Jr., Bela Lugosi, John Carradine, Akim...

what are you watching? (tv shows)

Patton firmly believed that the Western powers were going to have to wage war with the USSR eventually, and was convinced there was no better time than that present moment when, as you said, the men and equipment were there. If that had happened it would have been a bloody battle with...

Apologies, I got his name wrong, it was Alan not Arthur. He was very good in Androcles and the Lion (1952).

Arthur Young's death a few weeks ago got me (and many others, no doubt) re-watching the great old Mister Ed series. Someone has posted them all on youtube. Lots of laughs. In agreement with your earlier comments about Johnny Carson, Ceewan. A legend.

Any thoughts on the current season of Game of Thrones? It's up to episode 5 now, not going to post any spoilers but there have been some good surprises, and of course, great drama.

    Problems at upstore.net

Have tried and failed repeatedly to download from upstore.net as a free user. After waiting the required 60 seconds and then entering the "capcha code" I keep getting the message "No slots for free users in your country at the moment". Does anyone have a fix for this, besides buying a premium acct?

For fans of British period dramas, Doctor Thorne (2016) is well worth checking out. It's based on the novel of the same name from Trollope's Chronicles of Barsetshire series, and so far three episodes have aired. It's not clear if there will be more. The screenplays are by Julian Fellowes, the...

For those interested, a longer, more detailed, and more faithful 1972 BBC production of War and Peace is available on KAT. It compares favorably to the recently concluded series I mentioned earlier in this thread, and stars Anthony Hopkins. Joe Bob says check it out! (Anyone else remember Joe...

I always hold your opinions in high regard, Ceewan, so based on your recommendation am currently downloading Game of Thrones S01-05 from KAT, and will start watching it in the coming days (unless you suggest reading the books first).

what are you watching? (tv shows)

It's been a sad few months for fans of British period dramas. This past Christmas brought us the final episode of Downton Abbey, and Friday night saw the end of Mr Selfridge. That entire series featured some great performances by Jeremy Piven, Amanda Abbington, and Katherine Kelly. While I...

Looking for a safe, reputable online marketplace for selling gift cards

I have some amazon gift cards that I want to sell, and looked into doing so on both ebay and reddit. However, there are numerous stories of the sellers of such gift cards getting cheated by the buyers, who after buying a gift card falsely claim that it expired before it could be used. From my...

what are you watching? (tv shows)

Just finished watching the recently concluded six part BBC production of War and Peace. The series failed to convey the various subtleties and background causes of many of the personal dramas, and gave only a partial exploration of the historic events which overwhelm many of the characters...

First episode of the final season of Downton Abbey is in the books. It's deterioration to being little more than a soap opera continues.
