Plot: Amid so many manga adaptations, with comfortable budgets and famous faces, it is immensely gratifying to see one slip in, almost on tiptoe, that’s as big a treasure as Miyoko, which is also a manga adaptation but, at the same time, is an autobiographical story. In the early 70’s, comic book artist Shinichi Abe turned the relationship he maintained with himself and with Miyoko, his muse and wife, into a cartoon. Yoshifumi Tsubota now contrasts the frames from ‘Miyoko Asagaya Kibun’ with the suggestive abstraction of images where its main characters openly reveal their body and soul. The passionate portrait of an artist and an era.
