Actresses not getting paid

I read a tweet from Melody Marks posting about japornxxx not paying her for a scene she did. Apparently it has been over a year and she has still not received payment. It is strange as japornxxx has shot many scenes with various foreign pornstars including Spencer Bradley, Ashley Lane etc.

Is this common in this industry?

Seems like such a shitty thing to do considering how much work Melody puts into her scenes. Would be disappointing if this put her off working in Japan again. Anyone know anything about this?

It looks like an independent studio, nothing like S1 or Moodyz for example. If there are issues with this studio, she will just work with another one. There are shady studios in the west too.

To be honest i am still shocked that they can do this to someone. They look very legitimate and have worked with many different actresses. Melody Marks has shot quite a few scenes with them. I hope she doesn’t get put off working in Japan after this experience.

I don't have names, but I'm sure it happened. I read about abuses on set for some studios, so money related issues definitively happen too.

@darksider, even if it does happen in the west, it doesn’t make what happened to Melody right. This is the kind of thing that will make other women think twice before going to Japan for work.

I never said it was "right". My point was that there are shaddy people everywhere. So, because this happened to her doesn't mean other western girls will think twice before accepting a japanese offer. They will just work with another studio.

She says that owe her $1800 but the studio claims to have already paid her. Not sure what is going on but she says her real name has been released and she may have to stop working. This is really sad news as Melody Marks is easily one if my favourite pornstars.
