That DMM guy is a real jerk. They took our JAV!.. But yeah, it's either VPN or finding some other sources like XCITY or XCREAM (though I'm not sure how... non-VPN they are), not to mention some basic ones like JAV Trailers, JAV Library and JAV Land, of course (just mentioning those anyway since I believe we believe too much in the whole "this is common knowledge stuff": we only know what we know, and we are all different in some ways; a person might know a lot about quantum physics but fail to understand how sarcasm works... and it's a reference I didn't expect I'd make)

P.S. Also, this post turned out to be a can of worms humor-wise (it has several kinds of comedy attempts that should have been more clearly made separate, so it might seem that they are all interconnected, and it might be confusing), but I'll leave it as is, to be a reminder to myself, of my own incoherence and proneness to wasting everyone's time with my graphomania. Man, I should work on this

Trawling these websites below isn't my preferred method. Search tools frequently don't work based on codes. Instead use Yandex image search first and Google Images second. Look for hits primarily from:

DUGA is a pretty good general go to. Covers are usually 1000px W.

AV-Channel has excellent covers when you can get them.

Tsutaya is hit or miss. Often lower file size and quality, mostly 1188px W if I recall.

HBOX will often have very high resolution front cover scans of you don't want the reverse of the box.

XCITY is fine if you don't mind your covers without spines (therefore often missing the code). They're usually of high resolution and good quality. I never use these if they have no spine.

XCREAM covers are excellent but don't include many studios.

MGS is okay but many have a watermark bottom-right. Maybe 50% of them do not, the older covers I think.

I wasn't actually aware of this site :)

When I typed it in now, I found out that I actually visited it, but I guess it was just via Google when I searched for some covers myself. But I'll add it to my list of sources, thank you

Are you able to purchase on sokmil? Can't seem to login, tried Google, X and Fb but stuck on loop and can't login.

I've never tried sokmil, but how about creating a standalone account, via e-mail and password etc.?

I've got some questions about purchasing & downloading vids from DDM, DUGA, XCream, etc:

I want to know if I can just purchase vids with my card or if I would there be additional steps involved?

Would I need additional software to download/rip vidoes?

What would the cc statement on my bill read?

Overall it's very likely that you will encounter some kind of pain while registering/purchasing and then watching/downloading (especially if the site limits its functionality for users outside Japan). Even when R18 was still a thing, they had DRM. Other than that I don't really have a lot of experience, but others have shared a lot here, for example (maybe try reading the last 5 to 10 pages of the thread)

I have purchased from duga and xcream.net. I choose videos with No DRM so I can download and play anywhere, try to keep off on the videos with DRM as it happen before my videos purchased on R18 which is no longer playable.

I thought all JAV on sites like Duga are under DRM. I learned something new today :)
