DENVER - USA - A full body scanner operator was caught masturbating during a scanning session by airport staff late Tuesday.

Airport officials at Denver International airport were on high alert yesterday when a full body scanner operator was caught masturbating in his booth as a team of High School netball players went through the scanner.

"The young ladies were going through the scanner one by one, and every time one went through, this guys face was getting redder and redder. His hand was moving and then he started sweating. He was then seen doing his 'O' face. That's when the security dragged him out of his booth and cuffed him. He had his pants round his ankles and everybody was really disgusted," Jeb Rather, a passenger on a flight to New York told CBS news.

The controversial scanners display every minute detail of a person's body and have been called intrusive by privacy campaigners. Body scanners penetrate clothing to provide a highly detailed image so accurate that critics have likened it to a virtual porn shoot. Technologies vary, with millimeter wave systems capturing highly detailed pictures of genitals, and backscatter X-ray machines able to show precise anatomical detail. The U.S. government likes the idea because body scanners can detect concealed weapons better than traditional magnetometers.

"What do you want to do, get blown up by a goddamn Arab at 30,000 feet or we get to see your private parts? It's up to you, the ball's in your park," head of the TSA's scanning department, Rodney Schroeder, told CNN.

Not so fast...

According to snopes.com, this story--which originated on a british satirical site, the Daily Squib--is not true. Here's the link:

Plus, there's no mention of this story on the CNN site and a search there for "Rodney Schroeder TSA" shows no results (at least as of this writing). Rather odd that the worldwide news organization cited as the source of the story has nothing on its site about it.

The Interweb: ya gotta love it!

While there is a huge amount of media coverage and concern about these devices, I have to concur with Gyoza .... about this report. The Daily Squib is totally satirical - hence headings such as "Waterboarding to be Introduced For 2012 Olympics" - and is really funny, if you like that kind of thing. Something that the English do really well. They must be laughing up their sleeves when they see their stuff being portrayed as real news.

Another clue would be that netball is hardly played in any US high schools.

True or not, the USA are spreading their control virus throughout the world and there's no stopping. Websites get shut down, people get scanned, cameras on public places...

Occasionally there's the usual report about upcoming terror threats and other news to keep the scare to justify their "security measures".

We live in dark times and the worst is yet to come.

When i read this just now it made me laugh (no offense), off all the place that needed to jerk off he have to do it in there, whew talk about not getting enough(>,<) can't he just hold it up till his break then jerk off?

Though it must have felt going to heaven then crush down straight to hell when he was caught hahaha(^,^)V

But seriously, the last part of the article was straight on: get peep on or getting the chance to die via terrorist suicide bomber inside the plane your riding.

Anyway not the expert about explosive and all but doesn't explosive compound has unique identification that allows experts to determine what they are? Can't they just make a device that see's only those?

Or only detect/see non-organic materials concealed inside/outside the human body.

What i'm saying is, make another scanner that LEAVES the human body "OUT" of the scan when being shown to the monitor.

This story is a hoax. It never happened.

True. Yet it is not inconceivable. The misuse and abuse of such intrusive devices are worth the attention such satire draws to the subject.

...The misuse and abuse of such intrusive devices are worth the attention such satire draws to the subject.

And that's exactly and precisely the role that satire is supposed to play: To make us see--when we are blind to it ourselves--and think about the dubious (and that's the nicest word I could think of) choices we are making or path we are heading down.

And, truthfully, aside from the "netball" reference (unknown in America) and the "goddam Arab" quote from the alleged TSA supervisor, did anybody really think this hadn't happened?

And even now-when we know it was a hoax--does anybody doubt that this will happen?

Meanwhile, the TSA continues to scan little old ladies who, as a demographic group, seem substantially under-represented among hijackers, suicide-bombers, jihadists and double-digit-IQ-I-got-explosives-strapped-to-my-nutsack morons...

It's nice that it's a spoof website, but you don't see that from the frontpage of Akiba. People who don't click to read the whole story, are going to assume this really happened. This does not belong in the news section, but in random or the chatterbox.
