Thank you, Sakunyuusha. I've calmed down somewhat. I realize there is no point in freaking out over things one has no control over. And I also realize the odds of me being arrested are probably extremely slim.

Sorry to bother people with my personal worries and hang-ups. I'll post again when the package arrives just in case anyone cares.

It's been my experience to do what Saku suggested in the first reply. I always keep these things on me and lightly wrapped in standard brown bags. along with other reading materials that are of course perfectly fine. I've carried uncensored into Japan & Loli into the states. Never having been searched or pulled to the side for my reading materials. I refuse to put that kinda stuff in my luggage to be stored or shipped because of the security measures that are taken. It'll surely be spotted and taken care of. Sorry to hear about your loss of manga. Better luck next time.

At this point, I could care less about the manga. As long as no one ever shows up at my door in a suit, I'm a very happy person. Seeing as it's been this long, I think I'm in the clear, but I don't know how long it takes to get a search warrant.

And yes, one thing I have learned form this experience, is that if you're gonna bring porn into the country, do it in your luggage. Heh, I should have listened to you guys.

This was an interesting thread, hadn't noticed it until just now. The fact that it was not sent to your house from a retail store or a publisher but person to person is likely to have kept noses to themselves. But redrooster was right in suggesting that it was not a good risk to take. To be honest I think it will turn out fine.

Thanks for the reassurance. What I did was dumb, but yeah, I think it's over with. I still get a little worried whenever I get official-looking mail, but my guess is the package is either burnt, or sitting in some prohibited items locker for all eternity. Hell, I don't know how it works.

You haven't got the package yet? I'm not sure how long it should take though, I never mailed a package to myself from Japan. Did you mail it to yourself using your own name or anonymously?

When I have ordered through J-List in the past, it has taken anywhere from 1 week (!!!, record timing) to 6-8 weeks to get a package. I've only ever ordered hentai tankoubons through them.

When I have ordered through YesAsia in the past, it has taken between 4 and 8 weeks for packages to arrive. I have ordered books, tankoubons, and other things through them.

I think it's safe to say that if 12 weeks have gone by and you still don't have the package, you're never going to get it.

I think it's safe to say that if 26 weeks go by and you still don't have a letter from The Man, you're never going to get one (for this particular occasion ;p).

As for where the books are, I think it 1-0-0% depends on the personality of the manager in charge of the Customs department which intercepted it. If the manager likes hentai, then it's a sure-fire bet that he took it for keeps and either uses it or has sold it to somebody else. If he doesn't like hentai, then it's a sure-fire bet that he destroyed it. Either way, I can't imagine he'd hold onto it for very long if he wasn't ever going to use it. If he did that with every article of contraband he came across, he'd run out of space pretty quickly.

But these days it is so hard to tell. People do actually feel that way when it comes to anything remotely insinuating little girls are anything less than pure, sweet and innocent creatures, even if it is just in manga.

Exactly two months and 1 day after shipping them, I got my mangas. The box was vey beat up, but the contents, as they were when I packed them and unmolested. I guess the 20 day guideline was give or take 5 weeks.

This has been a horrible experience. I'm quite the straightedge, so when I found out I had done something that could, if however unlikely, ruin my life, I let my imagination run away. Over the past few weeks my anxiety has subsided, but for a while, I was fairly miserable.

At any rate, all is well, and I'd really like to thank Sakunyuusha and Red Rooster, and anyone else who had a kind or helpful word. This wasn't the sort of issue I wanted to discuss with my friends and family, so you guys helped me out just with your posts.

Thank goodness. I am glad that you have them in your possession now because it means YOU HAVE CLOSURE. You can move on with your life now. Assuming, that is, that you don't do this again any time soon. >_>; lol
