Censored JAV: History/Cultural Reasons?

As a person born and raised in America, I am curious as to what the cultural/historical reasons for having censored porn is.

From my Western point of view it is very strange that showing an asshole is OK but not a dick or pussy. Also, it is weird that you can show cum, poop, pee, etc. but no genitals. Can someone please explain to me what the cultural reasoning behind this practice are? I want to understand it so I don't get so damn pissed off at the censored stuff. There are so many hot women in the censored section that I cannot see and it is frustrating! Thanks in advance.

It's worth mentioning that censorship (mosaic) isn't always consistently applied. For instance, genitals are censored, but anatomically-correct dildos are not. And in many chaku-ero videos, male genitals that are covered with opaque condoms (or even some that are semi-transparent) are often not censored.

I'm European but I don't mind at all whether a movie is censored or not unless it is so censored that it is impossible to understand if there's an actual penetration.
I'm focused on the whole stuation and mostly on girl's reactions and behavior , of corse i do prefere uncensored movies , but to me those censored are pretty much the same.
