I like Yu Kawakami. Not the most glamorous JAV star around, but she has a lot of spirit.

When I had first taken notice of her, I labeled her as "The Eternal Victim." (In the first Akiba post I wrote regarding her.) By now, she has had so many roles, some have also included ones where she has served as oppressor... but to me, she will always exude a masterful picked-on quality.
I ran into a movie of hers where she gave a bravura performance, and thought it worthy of bringing to your attention.

After the watch, I looked around some, and discovered the TYOD line-up seems to specialize in women being driven out of their minds in ecstasy. (I saw quite a few covers with eyes rolled back - this is one of the schticks of the RANMARU studio, that is behind the TYOD's. "Ranmaru"?)
So you get the idea. In the movie, another man - Yu's husband's boss (luckily, played by the charismatic Rugged Man) - makes a move on the wife when the husband goes out like a light. (We know from JAV that Japanese husbands just cannot hold their liquor.) Familiar story, right? Instead of carrying on with mixed feelings as is the usual case, however, after a few gestures of token resistance, Yu surrenders to the interloper immediately.
The idea is, the wife is so sex-crazed, she simply cannot resist.
Now what's the big deal about all this, you may ask?
My positive feelings regarding Yu aside (in other words, you might think I'm being biased, here), I was extremely impressed with the way she handled herself in the role.
What distinguished her was the incredible heart that she put into her performance.
She was a'rockin' and a'rollin'...
Now the thing is, it also turned out this movie has a pretty sizeable series behind it:

So in order to see whether Yu's wonderful performance was deserving of special praise, I had to see how some other actresses stacked up to the challenge of the same kind of role. I quickly observed that two other actresses of an equal grande dame stature, Maki Hojo [TYOD-253] and Reiko Sawamura (Honami Takasaka) [TYOD-258] -- both excellent actresses in their own right -- had also tried their hand at the out-of-their-minds housewife bit.
Reiko was hobbled by an odd twist in her story, playing a mother who is the aggressor, going after her son; so there was a bit of comparing apples and oranges. Both she and Maki did a good job in the final analysis, sometimes shaking their bodies orgasmically, and crossing their eyes; but I must say I was not convinced as much with either, as I was with Yu.
I checked out a couple of the other titles, and while most were routine, there was one actress in particular who seemed to give her all; I was impressed. You might ask, isn't this the easiest thing in the world for an actress to do? You may recall the restaurant scene in WHEN HARRY MET SALLY, where Meg Ryan demonstrated that feigning an orgasm is a piece of cake for any woman, as Billy Crystal listened in disbelief. This is especially true for more sexually inclined ladies, one type being porn actresses. We see JAV actresses convulse all of the time (and some of it may be real, too)... how hard can it be?
Yet whether another actress can achieve similar results isn't the point. Yu Kawakami consistently offers wonderful performances, and in this one she gave something extra. I know she always delivers, but here she demonstrated her skills in a powerful way... to the point where I really took notice.
