Plot:
Ayonara Itsuka, the highly anticipated adaptation of a 2001 novel by Hitonari Tsuji, stars Miho Nakayama, Tsuji's wife, who returns exclusively to the screen for this film. The story, set in 1975, is about Yutaka (Hidetoshi Nishijima) who is transferred to the Bangkok branch of Eastern Airlines where he meets a woman named Toko (Nakayama) at a bar. He’s set to marry Mitsuko (Yuriko Ishida), the daughter of the airline’s founder in the near future, though he’s with her primarily to further his career ambitions. As his wedding date gets closer, he gets caught up in a passionate love affair with Toko, but he eventually decides to break it off and go through with his marriage after all. Toko is heart-broken, and moves to New York.
