The role will be taken over by Takeuchi Yume.
There is speculation that her reason for withdrawing may be comments from extremist Sailor Moon fans who said “she doesn’t fit the image of the character” because Kuroki has previously participated in gravure activities as a junior idol. When asked for comment on the rumors, Nelke Productions said “We cannot comment beyond what was said in the announcement.”
Hikari herself posted a response on Twitter: I have resigned from the upcoming Sailor Moon musical. I made this decision myself because I heard there were many complaints and I didn’t want to cause trouble for my colleagues or the Sailor Moon fans. I auditioned as an unknown in the business, and was really looking forward to it as I practiced dance every day in order to be ready to stand on stage. I’m very sad about this, but I’ll do my best so that I can earn more amazing work! Please continue to support Kuroki Hikari!
