When it comes to why the JAV industry isnt aware of more nuanced diversity between other ethnicities. It doesnt surprise me. Ever set of people from every country have pre concieved notions about other countries and have an image of them that may not represent things the way the possibly should or could.

Now this is just pure speculation but when it comes to JAV only looking at blue eyed blondes there are a few reasons I dont find it very surprising. On the most basic visual level, the are the polar opposite of the standard Japanese woman. While most of the JAV stars are short slender women with dark hair and dark eyes, the western women they cast seem to display the opposite. I think it feeds into the stratergy of marketing these videos as the polar opposite to the usual standards of the Japanese AV market.

The other part of this is that there is a degree of pre concived notions that the Japanese have about what westerners are like. These steriotypes are most obvious when you look at JAVs with Black men in them where more often than not they are basically criminals with huge cocks.

This isnt something that is exclusive to JAV. Its very evident even in Anime that tries to portray western countries or western people, more often than not it becomes more of a parody of old steriotypes than a serious display of what other ethnicities are like in reality.

Now I dont think that the Japanese are entirely responsible for this. Up until fairly recently the western world had beuty standards and steriotypes that they themselves propagated. Whether it was the blue eyed blonde glamorous actresses or popstars, Black rappers and thug life. These steriotypes still exist to some degree even now and have probably been reflected in some JAV when you see them mainly casting Blonde women when they look outside of Japan.

Everything takes time, over the last fifteen years the beauty standards have begun to change and people are more accepting and appreciative of the things that make us all unique. For this to trickle down into all areas of media including JAV will take time. Honestly it will probably take more than just time but people trying to crowd fund their own JAV and break away from the big studio/ production house system. We see this in the western porn industry and maybe oneday will happen with JAV as well.

If that does happen it will allow the newer crop of studios to have a degree of freedom that the established JAV studios dont have, because the established JAV studios target audience is primarily Japanese men.

If a new JAV studio was crowdfunded it would likely mean that their target audience would be more global than local. I say that because crowdfunding allows people from anywhere to invest and have some say in the direction things are headed. There will be a more clear line of communication between creators and the audience. Just like there is with a lot of the newer western porn producers. Some of whom even regularly interact with people on reddit and other forums.

I think JAV fans if they really want to see different stuff need to figure out how to do something like this. I think sites like akiba-online are a great place to start this conversation. I think a change of this magnitude will only happen if people from different backgrounds come together, rather than expecting the Japanese porn makers to try to figure out all the variables on their own, while trying to understand audiences that are foreign to them.

I speak to many people who have great Ideas for JAV and porn. Maybe its time we as a community try to figure out as a collective how to move towards a point where we have more say in whats created. Its not enough to just but the stuff you like when the target audience is never going to be you.

If this kind of thing was ever done the potential would be massive. When I look at the way some of the Indie porn producers in the west are becoming self sustainable while producing more JAV like porn, I realized that there is a huge audience that wants stuff similar to JAV but with western actresses. Not there are a few of these studios that have popped up over the last 8 years and have grown both as studios as well as in terms of their audience and type of content.

The thing is a lot of these companies were set up by people who were already in the porn industry at some level. Its not that they were aware of JAV. What they were aware of was that there was a way to be self sustainable by doing custom videos for their fans. These custom videos handle the production cost and selling these videos gives them their profits since their production costs are already taken care of.

The most important aspect of is that the stories are made by the fans who fun the videos. When you watch these videos its clear that the fans who paid for the custom videos had up until that poin been forced to watch only JAV because those themes were never touched by western porn. In many cases the custom videos were successful enough to spawn a series that the studios realized had enough traction to maintain for a while.

Now since these studios were set up by americans who were up until that point in the regular american porn industry, they are still slightly behind the times in realizing the potential of expanding even further. The women they hire as regulars or on contract are still for the most part what you would expect from tradtional american porn production houses.

Now Imagine if these kinds of studios began casting women from Mexico, India, Korea, Greece and so on. How much larger would their reach be? They would be able to attract a more diverse audience with increasingly diverse castes and themes.

The other thing that stunts the growth of these studios is the overly sensitive political climate in the US right now. Which is why the ideal situation would be a studio like this being set up in Japan, where they would have a degree of freedom to really explore any theme. In US even these indie studios are too afraid of public backlash to do certain things.

While they make some of the most hardcore bondage, actual r*** porn is non existent. Theres always some sort of catch in the story when they attempt it so that it isnt technically r***. If you look at the Incest videos its always a step-mother, step-father or step-sister. They even make sure they mention it a few times in the dialog to cover their asses.

The basic diversity of casting you will begin to see as time goes by with these smaller studios. The themes will evolve and in some cases become vaguely similar to JAV. They will never go all out woth the theme/plot/story the way JAV does. In some cases even in JAV so many things have been watered down. If you look at some of the JAV that was produced in the early 2000s its really extreme(in the best way possible) compared to some of the best stuff produced today.

As far as diversity of casting goes, there have been different times throughout the years that I thought maybe a JAV series would result to a bigger shift in the attitude towards casting outsiders. I honestly thought that when the Giga series I posted on your previous thread bengan to release regular titles. Eventually they stopped and nothing like them has been made since. The momentum wasted.

Its not Likely to happen until a studio that is free from certain restraints can find a way to be self sustainable. I have so many thoughts on how this could be done. Unfortunately Im an outsider. Im not Japanese dont live in Japan and wouldnt even know who to talk to if I wanted to do something like this. It is a monumental task, but there is a massive audience who would love to see stuff like this.

Not only that but if an operation of this type were to happen it would be interesting to see how both the JAV industry and the Western porn industry would be forced to adapt and start experimenting in response to this.

Thats the way I see all of this at the moment.

You mentioned wonder woman. I would love to see a hot greek woman play wonder woman. So far the best casting of wonder woman in a porno that Ive ever seen was Christina Carter. It was responding to @BustyNurseMomoko asking why the Japanese producers always go for the blue eyed blonde white women when there are so many other options out there? Surely even within Japan there are more women who can be hired to have more options for the kind of JAVs that can be made. The rest of my post talks about the way a lot of the more recent western porn studios are putting out things that have similar themes to stuff you would only see in JAV before, and why that is.

I know the post is long, probably the longest post Ive made here but there were a few questions asked, and a few things that were sort of relevent to look at in terms of how things can change. Also wouldnt it be for the best in the long run if the industry could grow. There are new markets emerging as internet connectivity increases and the online landscape changes.
