How do you organize your JAV collection

I only have avis or wmv vids.

I do name all files like: Actress - Title
Code:
,
such as "Chihiro Hasegawa - Gothic Lolita with Semen Vol.3 [GHD-003]".

I have alot of data DVDs and it's always a pain in the ass to find a single movie, because there are mostly 3 on one DVD. I tried to put similar stuff on one DVD (actress, release date or genre), but it's hard to manage.

I also download the covers, throw it in one folder and name it like: "{2010-02-18} Tsubomi - Face Bukkake and Gokkun [RCT-191]". So I know how many vids I have and in chronological order.
But sometimes the release date is hard to find especially for older titles and from not so well-known companies.

I want to buy a huge external HD and put all my stuff there. Sounds like a plan?

So how about you? If you want to watch a particular movie, can you find it quick?

Rename all vids by ID tag on cover

For instance if you have SOD-0062.avi then you also keep SOD-0062.jpg for a cover shoot.

Dump them all in a folder named JAV####? where #### is the year received and ? is alphabetical order of arrival to disk.

Burn it, in original received format, trash the hdd copy.

Nothing more fancy than that or it would take a millenium to sort it all.

Pictures on the other hand...
To the best of my abilities, name folders by Lastname_Firstname of model and start dropping in the whole subset.

If they come from someones hardworked collections like Timberland or Godzilla99 and such, then I dont usually rename them as they may get stingy if someone asks for a repost on nntp one day.

Nowadays I store most pics in SQL blobs rather than on disk as files.
Simplifies a lot of sorting. (so trust me I am tired of people saying windows cannot handle more than 4GB files for MySQL. My current picture database is 21 GB on a windows box and it works quite fine)

same as techie except i don't burn mine and i put them in folders sorted by actress. 5tb of data is enough for temporary storage, delete the stuff that's old, buy dvds of the stuff i really like.

I use Personal Video Database. It's free and you can get it here.
http://www.videodb.info/forum_en/

I really like it. You can set tags that you can search, sort by title, actor, or release date, and you can attach cover scans to a movie profile. The best thing is that you can associate an avi/wmv to a movie profile and play a file from the program using your typical media programs.

Unfortunately there isn't a specific section in the actors database to enter in stats besides the description section. Also there isn't a database in English to enter in the info from the ID codes. The only method I've found is to google them.

[AV][TEK-026][春菜はな] REAL SEX.avi

that means [AV in the case of adult video as opposed to IV for idol video][product code as stated on the DVD cover][actress name in Japanese] title of the movie in Japanese as stated on dmm.co.jp. If I know alternative names of an actress I put them behind the present name she uses and also put that in [ ] brackets.

Then I tried some folder structure:

[AV]
--------[actress name in Japanese]
-----------------[studio name in Japanese]
----------------------[video files + cover jpgs]

The "Other" folders contains different av like public naked, riding a modified bikes (bikes with up& down dildo so the girl ride it with sex face):exhausted:

Actress name - Title. :tea:
I never bothered about the codes and date.

I do it this way: Title (volume or number of series include) - Actress. For example: Red Hot Jam Vol. 91 - Misaki Ito

I have a password protected external HD with folders ordered by NAME, in each folder ACTRESS-TITLE-CODE for both the COVER(JPG) and the Video File which is converted to MP4 H264, this last format so I can "privately watch them in my iPod"... not that I need privacy because my GF also enjoys porn, but I do not always watch videos at home.

I just started to work on script for importing cover pictures and basic info, but all just in japanese. There's no site good enough for this purpose in English.

I just use the performer(s)' name(s) and a random number (as I often follow one or two performers).

I randomly pick around 3-4 movies so it will fit a blank DVD, than i put it code one movie one folder, ex JAA-JAB-JAC and so on.
:exhausted:it will confuse me if i wanna find particular movie, so i make the blogspot, put a label on it (Name or genre etc) see> http://yoshie-luv.blogspot.com/ (This is not a promotion/commercial purpose or download links, just sharing idea)

First I named it like this pattern:

Code:
[studio] title (code)

e.g.: [Sky High Ent.] Sky Angel Vol. 37 - Rui Aikawa (SKY-069).avi

But in the meantime I changed it to

Code:
code

I hope in the future I will have a program which will do the job. Or I can browse through my collection also in that program, create playlists and so on. That would be the most convenient way as I'm not interested in filenames, but in JAVs. So I don't want to spend anytime on this. :donotwant:
