Is it the JAV star or the Director?

Excuse me, I may have asked this question on this forum once before. But, I would like your opinions on whether great performances are due to the lady involved or the director's directions? We have all seen even the top performers just going through the motions in some films, almost like they are sleep walking. And then, in others, they really seem into it and give a great performance with lots of passion. So the question is, in your opinions, is it just that they were horny that day or turned on by the guy they were performing with, or did the director somehow indicate the kind of action he wanted, and force the action? Thanks for any observations.

I bet it all has to get. Plucky script, actors that are attracted to each other, sets that aren't distracting, mood of the actors, a director that knows what they're doing. Ot depends.

It all depends on the movie , how script it is, if it is a feature movie or just a collection of sex scenes like the "magic mirror series" , basically it depends on how much the director has a say , how much freedom the performers have , if they haven't and could only do what they're told, then it's all on the director .

Anyway the director is the one deciding the lights , the set up, the camera angles , times of exposure , change of positions .

It's easy to ruin a scene if they stay too long on a single position for example, bad light, too many close ups for toolong, or even no close up at all , angles where the "action" is hidden for too long , too great an angle with too distant actors , too much attention on the male actor .
All these things and more are onthe director's , so ultimately even though it's the actors who really make the scene it could very easily ruined by the directors so it depends on the director.

The greatest director is the one who exploits the chemistry between the performers when there is any and is able to show it , this really adds to the scene, or is able to minimize the lack of asking for sexy position and avoiding those who would show any bad feeling between them .

Still we all buy and watch a movie solely based on who is in.

Has there been any BTS where the main stars are revealed to have actually been horny for each other and do some impromptu screwing?
 
I wouldn't give too much credit to anything a pornstar says in a BTS, most of those are scripted in order to increase the sales or the impact of the DVD or even to promote an actress they're going to hire often

Right, everything is subject to question. I would believe it if the actors get really passionate in a candid scene, because that's what I've seen with Western porn. Although anything could be faked.
 
They enjoy it or faking it, it's the actor or the director, I don't care. I come to see JAV to fulfil my fantasy. If they do great in screen, that means the director is good doing their job, the actors doing their best to deliver satisfaction for us. That's my point of view because sometime if I think a lot about things like this, like is her boobs real or not, or anything, it makes me don't enjoy the movie I watch.

most of the time the director directions, and sometimes the performers

for example Haruki Sato and Hibiki Otsuki, in AVs we see those girls love sex very much at any kind no matter how the guys look
 
Director. Is the person who decides what to include in movie to make it best. I can see movie actors get into action with out seeing no where till end as per given script [what act to be performed 1by1] is best to watch.
With un-scripted movie we can see in middle some where one or both actors turn their heads to same direction [away from camera] where somebody is giving instructions instantly.
This can happen with new entry or semi skilled director, & film is ackward to watch.
I am asking, why a director want to film where actors perform as they like as they want?
Apart from above, there may be good movies too, made by actors of their own [incl. home made].

Personally, I find it annoying when you see one of the actors obviously looking to the director for direction- sure, it's all fantasy, but that gesture ruins it

I hate it even more when they look directly into the camera, even though in the story they're playing there is nothing there. That really breaks the fantasy for me.

I definitely look for titles from favorite directors.

Also at the studio or label level we get similar series or themes from various directors that give the studio a flavor.
 
I used to believe the directors without a doubt made the movies work and the actors was 2nd to that equation BUT now i believe the directors can't be given a pass anymore. I believe there are more shit directors than good ones and it shows a lot these days.
The actresses can only do so much and if the director not seeing the big picture the movie suffers.

I've read many exciting synopsis for movies, only to be disappointed a little or LOT. Some movies don't even fit the synopsis and you question wtf happened :confused:
 
Kimino Natsu's leaked video shows exactly how much the director can potentially be responsible for, up to and including feeding the script to the actress line-for-line. So it's safe to say that the quality of any particular video will have a lot to do with the director.

I love actresses who bring a lot to the table, though. That includes people like Akira Elly who have their own strong ideas about what kind of content they want to produce; or girls like Oishi Moe who have their own unique on-screen presence.

Some really great AV come from the collaboration between director and talent. Masaki Nao, an actress-turned-director, has a series where she selects an actress she's worked with before and lets them loose to do what they want on set. They're not always the biggest names, but they're performers with whom she's built some trust, and it shows in the quality of the product.

Director plays a HUGE role in producing good AV movies, just like in regular movies. Sometimes, even the actresses looked different with different directors. Just by observing Minami Aizawa alone, we can see differences in her looks under different directors already.
For eg. IPX-697/IPX-819 (Inaburl) vs IPX-714 vs IPX-873(肉尊) vs IPX-666(まえだのかほり) vs IPX-750(ドラゴン西川).. Next month's IPX-889 (前田文豪) she looked different again, as seen from official trailer.

My favorite director list are:

1. Inaburl イナバール. He is the one that does the beautiful Idea Pocket's "Fruit of Abstinence" series like IPX-697, IPX-722, IPX-743, etc. Just last year, he did 6 movies with Minami Aizawa and every single one was beautiful. This year, he had 3 movies with her already. I marked him as a screen play magician and I believe he knows how to use lighting, angles, framing and even music to capture the best of every moment. A fantastically skillful director + Minami Aizawa's acting skill, they are a match made in heaven. Some titles: IPX-543, IPX-588 from 2020; IPX-620, IPX-649, IPX-680, IPX-697, IPX-732, IPX-784 from 2021; IPX-801, IPX-819, IPX-857 from 2022.

2. ドラゴン西川. His director skill is very good with his great story telling elements. Too bad he only works with Minami Aizawa only once last year in the fabulous IPX-750 available in 4k resolution. Go watch it. Minami is so beautiful and different in that movie. She is so.. Cute.

3. まえだのかほり Kaoru Before. A very strange name for a director, but he is a legend. His story telling elements, lighting control and good screenplay captures the mood very well. Watch IPX-666, my voted best movie for the year 2021, and see how he made this long time favorite series even MORE enjoyable with Minami Aizawa's superb acting and beauty.


肉尊, though not in my favorite list, is the one that does the recent IPX-873 with Minami Aizawa. This Hentai boss series done by him and how he did Minami's version is so different and beautiful compared to others, that I began to wonder if the actress actually plays a role in determining the script.
If we go back to watch the Hentai boss series with other actresses like IPX-770, IPX-847 and IPX-625, we will see that Minami's version is more straight to the point without long nonsense scenes from the previous movies in the series.
But one thing I don't like about his (肉尊)movies is that he uses a lot of "cuts" in a scene to tell the story, resulting sometimes in irregularities between cuts. For eg. with IPX-873 second scene where Minami was "invited" into the pantry, standing beside the fridge watching in awe as her boss was talking to her.. but on the next cut, she was seen standing slightly in front of the fridge with a slightly different hand position. This happens in a lot of other places, to the point I really get pissed off by him.
