Is torrent better than HTTP downloads?

For me, no. I don't like being at the mercy of others to seed things. You can find a mountain of posts/replies on Akiba about trying to grab something and they are at 0% or 20% or can't get beyond 96%, that would drive me nuts! Nope, I'd rather have a direct download so I don't have to wait days or weeks for things to finish downloading with a small group of seeders.

Torrents are good if it's a private tracker with a rating. Only through DHT almost no one seeding, but there is a lot of people who want to download.

torrents are pretty much immune to dmca, the magnet links are always to be found on search engines even after takedown. but seeding is spotty.

HTTP has a lot of dmca takedowns and dont last long. But if you have a private http site the files can stay up for years and you cant beat that compared to torrents.

I've shared personally ripped stuff on torrents and http. Http made me money but it felt much nicer seeding the files and just sharing for the common good.

If you want to download a lot you really have to combine the two and maybe even a nzb site and usenet subscription.

It is generally easier to get files via torrent when it is first released onto the scene, after 9 months and beyond the seeders usually go missing unless you're getting it from Private Trackers.
