Hey guys, while searching for JAV I came across a few pay to download sites. I was wondering were any of them legal? I know majority of the content is delivered by disc and then usually ripped. Do you guys know if any actual JAV studios are doing this or is it just some dude trying to make money?

You'll have to give some examples for us to know for sure.

I'm 99% sure that actionjav.com is legit, as well as a few others like asianmoviepass.com and japanvcd.com, but I can't say absolutely.

I think a good rule of thumb is, How high profile are they? Studios and legit retailers (like DMM) aren't gonna idly sit by if people are openly profiting from their product without proper licensing.

Afterall, they occasionally crack down on free download/torrent sites and they rarely profit directly from the videos - they typically make their money off of ad-revenue.

Also, I can't say for sure when it comes to JAV, but years ago, western porn studios used to license "brokered" content. Basically, you pay them a fee then you can distribute their work. Of course, with the rise of torrents, third-party download sites (Ryushare, Deposit Files, Mediafire, etc.) and studios providing direct content to the consumer, this paradigm pretty much disappeared.

Anyway, if there's a specific site you're curious about, let us know.

The website I was curious about was javhd.com and their sister sites av69.tv and ferame.

They appear to be legit to me. But, again, I can't that with 100% certainty.

But the reason I think they're OK is that if you look at those sites, there's a lot of work involved. The layout/coding looks pretty solid and from what I can tell it looks like there's probably a decent amount of effort maintaining them.

That's often a good sign that they're on the up-and-up. It's usually not a good decision (from a business standpoint) to invest a lot of unnecessary resources (time & money) in an endeavor that could be shut down at any time because you're doing something brazenly illegal.

Also, compare those sites to your typical "illegal" download sites which are usually just Wordpress cookie-cutter templates. I could be wrong (some Wordpress sites can look pretty professional and/or unique) but those don't look like your run-of-the-mill blog site.

That's just my impression. If it's a big concern, you could contact them; if they're truly legit, they'll be more than happy to take the time to reassure you of it. If they aren't, it's probably not worth their time/effort or too risky to even engage you on the matter.
