I reside on the west coast, Nagasaki, because Tokyo is just ugh,

In Nagasaki, it's a more laid back atmosphere, the people are extremely kind and hospitable, food is so, so, SO much better and there's much more variety, shorter buildings, better skate and bike scene and so forth, cheaper living with above average salary.

Maybe it's because I am older and have a family and am from New York that I just can't enjoy Tokyo much anymore or don't even want to go to there anymore.

I have given this some thought, where ever you go in the world, there will always be the best place, I live here because!!!, my Japanese experience is zero, except those who go outside of Japan, and they nearly always tell me they are from Tokyo, but it seems that they was always very polite to me, so I have decided every place has plenty of good points, and some bad ones, and because I travel mainly alone, (in China with guides) they are always the best for this and best for that, whether it is for food, views hotspots or girls or even brides if I wanted, so I am sure I will enjoy both when I get there, :grassdance:

not knowing much about Japan, could you let us know bit more about some of the pictures, I assume the tower is a telecom tower somewhere, and the food is some sort of Japanese dish, ok the soles did not need to much explaining, thanks for your time

I am a big fan of photography but that does not equate with being very knowledgable on the subject. I am grossly ignorant on the matter actually. I just know what I like to look at. There are some excellent photos shared here. I enjoy looking at them.

Ono-Denki - an electronics shop in Akihabara

The banner outside of another adult shop in Akihabara, almost as good as M's however much narrower so not easy to get around. However the offer the biggest selection of rubber cocks in Tokyo.

Some folks dressed up as Gundam (I think) characters helping clean up Akiba street since they just recently re-opened the main road for foot traffic the weekend before. I asked them if they are into Gundam and anime or other stuff like that, two of them at once cried oh "DAME-YO!" (like saying "No fucking way!") Turns out they are students at the dental college about 6 blocks up and they are doing this for a professor's 'honor points'.

Friends I ran into back in Akiba - since the middle two are here on vacation and the outer two don't know the area very well AND since I live here, I took them around.

The free shuttle-bus that takes you from Kita-Senju all the way out to Asakusa and down across the Sumida river to see the Sky Tree

The festival where kindergarten kids are supposed to fight off evil ogres by putting on scary masks and throwing dried beans at the ogres.... but there was a lot more running away from the ogres than were running at them to clash in the heat of battle . . . surprisingly.
