The article below is not much of an article, but its subject may be of great value to most Akiba-Online members, particularly those who have turned to the "Identification Help" section. We've all been there; watching yet another Japanese porno, and then suddenly a non-starring performer jumps out at us. She might be featured in one of the vignettes in an episodic JAV where the ladies are uncredited, or she might even be one in a crowd of women from a single scene. Then you know what happens. We all know and love the likes of Maria Ozawa.
But something like 95% of Japanese porn is populated not by stars but by so-called kikaku joyu, or “project actresses” — these are the unsung heroines of an industry that products 20,000 titles a year.

A new film Namae No Nai Onnatachi (名前のない女たち, literally “The Girls With No Names”, though the English title is Love & Loathing & Lulu & Ayano) is about young JAV porn stars in Tokyo, a subject of course close to my heart!
It’s based on a on-fiction bestseller, a four-volume compilation of interviews on life and sex with kikaku porn actresses.
A kikaku is a supporting actress hired for the day, whose face and/or name doesn’t appear on film, as opposed to tantai, the starring models. The ratio of tantai to kikaku girls is something like 5% to 95%!
The director is Hisayasu Sato (佐藤寿保), well known for his eroticism. Given the subject matter, we can likely expect that rare thing from a Japanese film — nudity!
