What is the law of Possessing JAVs

I need some clarification of the legality of owning JAVs.

Since usually and mostly all JAVs have actresses that are 18+, is it good to assume that it is legal in USA?

Meaning some JAVs have titles that includes words like "lolita, or daughter, or etc", but the JAV actresses should be over 18+.

And what is the law of downloading JAV?

Owning JAV should be ok assuming you yourself are 18+ or in some cases 21+, at least the ones from the big studios. If you get some unbranded download from unknown sources, there are some out there with illegal content.

As for downloading, as far as I know that's not allowed in the US, but since I'm not living there I'm not 100% sure. If the company that made the movie isn't interested in the US market (as most Japanese JAV companies aren't), they won't be likely to sue you for it, but technically you're still breaking the law.
