Why are so many download sites in Japan bank transfer only?

I've never heard of this in Europe or the USA. Are credit cards used less in Japan or something?
I wanted to sign up for this site:

But now every site I like is only available if you do a bank transfer! They now totally got rid of credit card payments which is stupid. Same with "BBmovies"

To do a bank transfer to Japan it costs $40USD which is a rip off.
Maybe bank transfers are free in Japan?

Is there any way to subscribe to that site by credit card?
Too bad nobody has come up with a service to do it and no I don't have paypal.

They are indeed used less in Japan. Japan has really antiquated banking and financial services.

As samurai stated the banking system is quite outdated and will most likely not be advanced anytime soon. Bank transfers within Japan from bank to bank are not free but they do add a seemed extra level of safety and verification. There are members here that live and work in Japan and can get you access to the sites that you can't access. You just need to talk to them about it. I've done it for clients in the past. There are almost no sites in Japan that offer PayPal and it's against PayPal's TOS to offer adult media and services so that's never gonna happen even if you get a PayPal account.
