For hardcoding, I use AVIDemux. Handbreak can probably do it too. I'm a Windows user though so for Macs YMMV.

AVIDemux hardcodes ASS files (including any special effects) without any issues. Not tinkering in AVIDemux is needed; just import the ASS subtitle file in the filter menu and you're good to go.
 
All software has a learning curve. I'm sure if you spent some more time w/ Aegisub, you'll get the hang of it. My recommendation remains unchanged. ;)

@Gokkun Punch have you considered some of the earlier titles from the SDDM series? There are some gems in there :) Or have you stopped doing edits/subs altogether?
