is there a process where you can convert 3d videos to 2d or ordinary videos?? thanks!!

It depends on the 3d video. if it's just a side by side one, you crop one side and it's now 2d.

Also theoretically, can do "crop" using mkv without reencoding

Using an avisynth script it can be played cropped in MPC, I used to do that, no re-encoding, just plays the cropped single frame video.

I saw the MKV thing but haven't got it to work using mkvmerge quite yet.

And yes, late response, not sure why Sam never did, he's usually pretty good about it. Probably busy.
