80s-90s adult mangas adapted into anime

[Saiya] Ayatsuri Ningyou & Seishoujo Omocha Alice Doll

Two mangas from the same author, who like to deal with high school girls or even younger, the so-called lolis. Apart from that, the stories are rather standard. There are many independant chapters as far as I can understand. The scans of Alice Doll are quite bad, if you know a better version please share it.

The two things were adapted into anime by Five Ways, and as their other works it is not unforgettable.

[Ramiya Ryo] Ninpo Midare Karakuri (well almost )

I've been delaying this upload because the manga release was a bit complicated. Actually you will get two books with a different title, "Half-Moon ni Kawaru Made" (1993) and "Lunagenic Doll" (1995). They contain many one-shot chapters, and each has half of the Karakuri story. This is how it was originally released, and "Ninpo Midare Karakuri" got a proper separate re-release in 2002, which cannot be found on the web. The scans I have found are rather low in quality, but that's the only thing you can find at the moment.

I really liked the anime, the manga is just the same. A ninja couple leaves his ninja village (not without problems lol) to try a "normal" life. But they are still chased by a kunoichi from the village, who will get infatuated with both persons of the couple... Watch out this nice mix of wacky ninja techniques, humour and ecchiness.

The author is a woman, and she became married with Utatane Hiruyoki, the creator of Countdown and Seraphic Feather. It is said that they influenced each other's style in their latter works.

[U-Jin] Juliet

Juliet is a series difficult to explain. We have a noble girl as the titular heroine, she gets engaged somehow with another noble guy. Really weird stuff occurs in the four volumes, like the noble guy dies and his spirits possesses Juliet's cat! In general a lot of paranormal stuff happens. As it's U-Jin, there is a fair amount of ecchi as well.

The anime adaptation produced by Adva Films is ecchi as well. Though it was reprinted for some reason as the 10th volume of the Secret Anima series, despite having little in common with the other volumes in terms of style or sexual content. It even made its way to Germany lol.

[Saitani Umetarou] Spiral Over

Another unusual title, which deals with genetic engineering and what I'd call "possession by sex". The "Spiral" of the title refers to the shape of the DNA by the way. It has also a lot of fighting scenes during the two volumes. The scans are not that good unfortunatly.

I haven't seen the anime adaptation, but as it was made by Five Ways I'm not that motivated...

[Sanbun Kyoden] Hiiro no Koku (1 volume translated)

A housewife, complete with salaryman husband and kid, is all of a sudden assaulted and r***ing by a bunch of dudes. The dudes leave her house as fast as they came. Things get further day after day, including SM and bondage. There seems to be a deeper reason behind the complete mindrape of the girl, but I did not bother to understand. The anime got a whopping 5 episodes (thank you Five Ways, thank you), known as "Secret of a Housewife" or "Time Colored Scarlet" (wtf Germany).

Volume 1 was translated by Faytear, and since they have recently closed business, it is not clear if volume 2 will be ever done.

The OVA was recently completely fansubbed by EROBEAT. I gotta say that once you know one of Sanbun Kyoden's works, you know them all, as they rarely deviate from the "plot" of this one. Makes me appreciate the variety of the Cream Lemon series

[Go Nagai] Barabanba

Yes, Go Nagai...

This prolific author is more known for his mainstream works. He's active since the early 70s, and has made groundbreaking works in mainly three categories: giant robots (Mazinger, Getta Robo, Grendizer), violent/demonic stuff (Devilman, Violence Jack) and erotism (Harenchi Gakuen, Cutey Honey).

This manga made in 1983/1984 falls into the third category. Some aliens come to earth, and meet a random dude. The alien boss (whose armor is exactly like Giger's Alien) reveals that he is looking like a beautiful girl actually. This is only the beginning of a weird erotic space opera. Go Nagai is known for his wacky and messy stories, this is no exception. It's really hard to describe the events without a translation, so I won't try lol. It's not fully explicit but it's as sexual as Seinen mangas can be.

The anime, produced by Alice Japan/JHV in 1985, has little to do with it, except the main concepts, like the heroine cosmic orgasms! There was a second series produced in 1987, having no anime adaptation but I provide it too. Many thanks to pila13 for helping me to collect all volumes.

[Fukutani Takashi] Dokushin Apart Dokudamiso

A very long seinen series (35 volumes!) which ran between 1980 and 1993. Title translates to "Single apartment residence Dokudami", and indeed our hero is living there on a single apartment. This is more a slice of life story, with sex issues as a plot device, but not only. Humor is not absent as the hero is more on the looser side, messing up with all the girls he meets. The residence setting offers a lot of interactions with the neighbors and visitors of course.

I have only found the first five volumes, which are not the best drawn unfortunately, and the look is quite different from the anime adaptation. To my surprise chapters selection of the manga were released here in France, by some underground publisher, 3 volumes so far.

The title translates as "Child's time". And it really fits, as the main girl of the story literally becomes the sexual toy of a bunch of kids during the three volumes. This not related in any kind to the more recent seinen manga from Watashiya Kaworu (though it has risqué aspects).

It got adapted by Five Ways into an even longer story, running for 7 episodes (the last one being released 6 months before they went bankrupt), also known as "A Forbidden Time".

Gotoh Akira got more adult anime fame with an adaptation of the 21-Ji no Onna manga (maybe it will be uploaded some day).

[Kazuto Okada] Kyoukasho ni Nai! (partial english translation)

A long-running seinen manga that was published in Young Champion. This tells the adventures of Tairaku, a young teacher and Aya, a transfer student. Aya is the daughter of a wealthy businessman, who forced the teacher to give private lessons to his daughter. She seems to be attracted to her teacher, and things are made more complicated as Tairaku is already in love with a female colleague. Sexual humor and misunderstandings follow in the 18 volumes. The 2-OVA anime adaptation by Toei Animation follow the same path, it is known as "Very Private Lesson" on the burger land.

It is being currently translated by the Solaris-SVU team, almost 3 volumes have been done so far.

[Protonsaurus] Aigan Shoujo & more (partial translation)

Protonsaurus (what kind of dinosaur it is lol) is most likely a pseudonym, of a adult manga author who was rather famous in the 90s. His stories went on many directions, from happy sex, incest, animal-girls, often going on the extreme side (with very graphic r***s, or even sex scenes ending with death or dismembrement). He seemed to enjoy drawing heroic fantasy as well, and something unusual for this kind of works, mechas!

As far as anime works are concerned, he was involved in the Cool Devices and Secret Anima anthologies. His first contribution 'Aigan Shoujo' is a collection of 3 short stories (it is mainly sex scenes, not a single plot line is around). The stories can be tracked down in his mangas books. For his second contribution 'Chu^2' it seems to be original works, but also divided in three parts.

What I propose is the following pack:

Abunai Yo (contains 'Fuyu no Mizugi', part 2 of Aigan Shoujo)
Aigan Shoujo (contains 'Aigan Shoujo', part 1 of Aigan Shoujo)
Iya! (contains 'Enema', part 3 of Aigan Shoujo)
Kinsoku Genkai (contains production work for Chu^2 and a bit for Aigan Shoujo as well)

Some of his manga works were also picked up in USA, but not everything went well. Aigan Shoujo was renamed 'Cool Devices' (sic) and got completed (5 comic book releases and a graphic novel) whereas Iya! was renamed 'Oh My!' which got canceled after 2 comic books out of 4 scheduled. One comic book was usually like two chapters of the japanese release. I can only find Cool Devices 1-3 and Oh My! 2 on the internet, fortunately they contain the stories adapted into anime. Abunai Yo was not imported as far as I know.

[Tanaka Kouji] Mogitate Marina-chan

Once again not really my stuff, it features an heroine supposedly a Sister (in the religious sense) with all what it implies in terms of chastity. Yet during the two volumes, she gets involved in crime stories where she gets sexually assaulted, nun fetish anyone? It may be she's an undercover agent, which could explain many things. The most important thing you learn from the manga is that motorcycle skills help being a good Sister (or a good slut, who knows). There are many jokes about christianity and the church hierarchy, so be warned.

The graphic style is not really good but anyway it was picked up by Five Ways for one OVA, expect their usual low-budget animation quality.

I couldn't find the second volume in original language, so you get a chinese version. If you can provide the correct version, I'd be glad even for that title.

[Asagiri Yuu] Midnight Panther (with partial english version)

Originally a seinen manga in 4 volumes serialized in Comic Nora (not related to the Nora manga), this story is more erotic than really hardcore. In an heroic fantasy setting, we follow the path of the "Pussycats", a group of three pretty girls doing sexy shows from town to town. But this is an undercover activity, as they are all henchwomen when the night has come. They have all some special skills, from swords to morphing abilities. In the latter volumes there are many side stories (the characters are put in another setting). The author is a woman and it shows, romance and humour are often present and she likes to draw the heroines in artistic poses.

The four volumes were imported and translated into english by CPM Manga for "comic book" format releases (1 chapter per book). Even so the whole series was translated, you can only find scans of the fourth book called "Feudal Fantasy". Anyway I put the complete raw and that english version together. I think there are "graphic novel" (aka complete volumes) releases as well.

[Oh Great] Junk Story (a.k.a. Silky Whip Extreme, english+japanese releases)

Quite a famous book back in the days... The main story is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where genetically engineered people fight with other genetically engineered people, including having sexual intercourse as there are from both genders (plus a normal dude and a robot lol). I wished there were more chapters to develop the back story, and that there was a better ending. There are a few extra unrelated chapters. In any case Oh Great has a great drawing style and doesn't forget to put a touch of humor from time to time.

The anime adaptation was made by the Marylin label, which changed soon after into the well known Milky label, I don't remember how it ended.

The whole book was imported in USA as 'Silky Whip Extreme', follow-up of the 'Silky Whip' release (whose original name is Engine Room, from the same author). You can observe the usual page flip, and two pages went missing, a flashback scene where a girl introduces a light bulb into another girl and smash it... I made a mixing of the japanese and english releases to get the best of both worlds.

The author did a few adult works after, but slowly moved to the mainstream with stuff like Tenjou Tenge and Air Gear.

[Iogi Juichi] Reinou Tantei Miko

Miko is a pretty looking girl, having strong spiritual powers. She is using them on freelance, being hired to exorcise demons, ghosts and all the japanese youkai folklore. The main difference to contemporary series with similar setting, like Ghost Sweeper Mikami and Yugen Kaisha, is that all the spirits she fights with have sexual urges!
So the stories usually end up with Miko and the rest of the female cast doing ecchi stuff with the demons or their minions. There is a bit of romance as well with the main male character being Miko's assistant (you didn't see it coming, did you...).

It was published in the seinen magazine 'Young Hip', and the story went on free wheels (12 volumes) until the magazine disappeared in 2003. There is an anime adaptation released into the Maxam label, the result is as ecchi as the manga (so nothing really explicit).

[George Akiyama] Pink no Curtain

George Akiyama is an atypical author. He is mostly for his work in seinen mangas, like the long-running Haguregumo series, 91 volumes published since 1973 and still running (!). He is not shy of controversial topics, like cannibalism, prostitution or World War II revisionism. Another controversial theme that is presented in this manga is incest.

Satoko is a beautiful lady, who spends most of her time as a 'comfort lady' with some local Yakuza. Her brother Satoru has become obsessed with her sister, to the point he needs to "unload" himself frequently in order to refrain his instincts. Satoko is not aware of her brother's true feelings, and they both live in the same apartment, so the drama can take place (with a few neighbours and friends to spice up the plot). It is not clear if the two main characters are blood-related or not, and I have no clue about that.

Even with such topic, don't expect fully hardcore scenes as the topic is treated quite seriously, so the usual picture tricks are used. The story goes on with 15 volumes, plus 5 volumes of a "Shin" series. Unfortunately I can find only the first 5 volumes, where you see the first part of this brother/sister dilemma.

It has been quite popular in Japan, so it got adapted many times, in a one-shot softcore OVA from the VIP Adult Video label (their only known anime production), in many live versions, a Nikkatsu Pink Eiga trilogy, two V-Cinema movies, and in 2009 as a hardcore Adult Video.

[Moriyama Toh] Penguimin H

Moriyama Toh is an alias for Yamamoto Naoki, an author relatively famous in the west for works like "Asatte Dance" or "Blue". Whether with his real name or his alias, his stories are always filled with sex, as the character usually solve their relationships that way. As Moriyama Toh, he has been involved in many adult anime works, Body Jack and three contributions to the Cream Lemon series (episodes 17, 25 and 31).

His first anime contribution involved a schoolgirl being blackmailed by her art teacher, after she had discovered the student was doing Adult Video in disguise. The story ended up in the art class as a giant orgy. In the first chapters of this book, you will not find the exact same story, but situations and characters who were picked right away to the anime:

- The black haired schoolgirl (Aoi Shimeji in the anime, Ao Umeko in the manga, where she is 13 lol)
- the horny art teacher with her trademark glasses
- the bold muscular man (only seen in the Adult Video part of the anime)
- the twins making only a cameo (became a triplet in the anime)

It's quite funny to watch the same characters living different situations that in the anime, so enjoy the show.

[Amamiya Jun] Puttsun Make Love

My bad, a lot of pictures were lost in the server change, I will probably not reupload them all... Anyway let's resume with another seinen title.

This is a normal romance story with a teenager couple, but you get to see them evolving a lot from school to the working life. It is well detailed with a large cast of secondary characters, and the sex scenes appear often and they are rather explicit. While being originally published in the seinen magazine "Comic Burger", the reprint got the infamous adult-only label.

For some reason the only release available of this title is a mixture of the original print (8 volumes) and the 1994 reprint (6 volumes), so there is some overlap between the books.
