Question: Did you ever see any local porn while you lived in Taiwan? In South Korea and Hong Kong hardcore porn is illegal but both had a huge selection of softcore, mostly the kind of thing you could catch on basic cable late night. I'd love to see some real Chinese language porn (how do you say "I'm cumming" in Mandarin?) but sadly, it's never crossed my path.

There was once a big underground scene in South Korea. On the old JAVTALK forum there were tons of Korean videos ripped from some livestream show. A host would be there on this bedroom set, with two women. They'd bring on in guests and do lesbian stuff, 3P, couples... I just can't remember the name of the show. ROK softcore was pretty hot. They only showed their breasts and there was no penetration but the acting was petty good.

Hong Kong soft core though? Pretty women yet pretty lame!

If there's some good Taiwanese or HK stuff they're producing now, I'd be happy to read about it.

Sorry for the delay, been busy dealing with family issues.

Haven't seen nor heard about Taiwanese porn. Everything was pretty much made in Japan, more or less legally distributed.
I heard that Taipei was a rather kinky city before the government decided to clean it up, pushing lots of the kinky stuff out of town, such as the binlang girls. No idea if they even still exist nowadays.

Which is not to say that kink didn't exist: one could still easily find barber shops and massage parlors where the services were, let's say, more focused on the lower part of your body. Heck, one such place was located a couple of streets from the Police HQ near Ximending (at least that's where it was located back then, no idea if it's still there).

I also recall hanging out in one of the bars/nightlife areas with a Canadian friend of mines and checking one DVD shop. The guy wanted to find girls to shoot some porn and we asked around. Shop owners were super kinds, said they didn't know anything about this kind of business, but told us they could call some girls if we wanted to have fun, showing us a room in the basement with a mattress on the floor.
Yep, the DVD shop was doubling as some sort of hooker hideout.

Lots of seedy hotels also had their resident prostitute(s).

Sorry for the disgression.

The TL/DR version : haven't seen/heard about Taiwan porn, but prostitution was rampant.

There is Studio MDClub which is based on Hong Kong and does uncensored hardcore porn, that's about as close as you will get. Probably shut down now...

i wonder how many times an unsuspecting japanese wanker picked up an old jav and discovered his mother or grandmother getting nailed in it.

must happen.

In real life this must have occurred as I watched a movie called “The Lowlife” based on Mana Sakura’s novel.

upload_2021-2-20_13-43-58.jpeg

There is this scene with a young schoolgirl whose classmates found out her mother was an AV actress. She kinda hates her because of that & got teased by her friend due to her mother’s past. She would later reconciles with her after finding out the truth at the end.

So in general, family members wouldn’t accept it as you would imagine but life goes on.

If I’m not mistaken one AV actress, Marina Shiraishi also got divorced by her husband; who has been working overseas after discovering her porn works. I’m not sure whether the news is true.

It's a long one, so if you're in a reading mood...

I researched the rise of the "Ethics" companies that monitor Japanese AV. I agree with some things, like keeping the depiction of the age of an actress in a sailor suit ambivalent just to say that, while it is okay to like the way an adult performer looks in a particular uniform, it is not okay to pursue sex with minors! It's why they currently block out one of the letters in the phrase "JK" ("joshi kosei", meaning female high school student but carrying the implication that she's available for rental), or the the second "ko" in the word, "kokosei" (just plain old high school student) on covers now.

Ethics companies have been around since the 70s but their influence rises and falls. They rose again when the "exposure" videos were getting out of control around the early 2000s! Women getting bukkake'd in Shibuya; giving handjobs on actual trains and buses; and masturbating or fucking in the back of a real convenience store! Surprised we never heard about anyone getting arrested! I loved Riku Minato but if I walked into my local deli on the way home from the gym and she's shiofuki'ing all over the sports drinks, much as I'd love that sweet nectar of hers all over my face in another context, I'll be walking a block or two to another store for my purchase. Time and place, guys. Time and place! I think there should be some standards.

There are even tiers for what is allowed to be shown. So, showing unpixelated genitals is always forbidden. The A-list AV companies like SOD and Deep's can show the anus and pubic hair as long as the video has a story. Those one-off videos that are usually just one scene don't have to have any story so they can produce on the cheap but they gotta pixelate more of the private areas. Despite this I have seen a ton of uncensored one-off videos, mostly starring unknown actresses but sometimes A-list performers, like Maya Kawamura, Sora Shinna, Ichika Kamihata and AIKA. Maybe they pixelate those in Japan but knowing foreigners like us will be trolling the streaming sites, sell the same videos, uncensored, for overseas distribution.

Right now the titles have gotten a bit more mainstream because the Ethics companies are flexing their muscle. The chikan videos are mostly done on sets or a real bus or train that was rented for the shoot and filled with extras. There isn't quite as much incest JAV and we don't get bukkake or humiliation series now like the "Dream Woman" or "Dream Gakuen" series from the late 90s/early 2000s. We're not seeing series like "World with Extremely Low Hurdle to Sex" and "World where r*** is Legal". Certain words, like "shouta" or "gakusei" will have one of their katakana scratched out or replaced with a circle on the box art. Even the dialogue isn't always direct. Everyone knows the woman playing the tutor is supposed to be in her twenties and the male being tutored is supposed to be in high school but since that is statutory r***, yes even in Japan, they will pretend they're not depicting that by being coy about it in the script. I've heard the argument that such kinky themes are necessary for a nation so stressed out by work and so repressed that they've gotta engage in hardcore fantasies because people don't even talk honestly about sex to their spouses or partners but even in this fantasy worlk, I think maybe it's good to pull back sometimes. These things go in cycles. When the heat dies down, some director will think of something even more kinky than SOD's "Pop Up Chimpo" series, with dicks popping out of walls, blackboards, desks and barstools. Can you imagine what that will be? Jeez!

I would like to see movies from Rocket, SOD, Madonna, etc, with subtitles, uncensored and sold in the west but I don't think it would be worth it. Most of the JAV "types" won't appeal to most western men. They just don't have that Saigon whorehouse look. No judgement! I partake on occasion (Who doesn't love Korean American porn star Lucy Lee?!) but for me one or two scenes and it's right back to JAV. For us, it doesn't get any better!

I'll leave it there.

Sorry for digging up this old thread, i stumbled upon it when I was searching the forum

this was a good read to get some JAV history, thank you

Now that you mention it, I could definitely tell that there's been a shift in how "extreme" JAV was during the 90s and how things have become more vanilla in comparison. I remembering the first time finding those public exposure videos and was like "wait, holy this is real, they are actually outside D="
The censorship of themes makes me sad =( I swear at one point the incest JAV movies weren't "Step-"everyone before . It was like overnight, "Step-" was added to all the titles to cover their asses

It's possibly true about Marina Shiraishi, I feel.
Also I will say it's next to impossible to hide a career in porn these days. Someone will find out eventually.

The 90's has it's own flavours, girls are not clean shaven, and there is really less uncensored ones and often you see like tissue paper covering their twats. Armpits are often not so smooth either but then again it there wasn't any HD technology then just up resolution of 480p from VCD, even LD is just around 720p. Not an expert but resolution does matter to enjoy porn. My 90s was pretty much VCD.

Jav in the 90's is still pretty much straight forward for most of it, and of course bukkake was their founding genre.

It's a lot more obvious in western porn. You can see that the guys are struggling to cum, having to jack themselves off because they are kept hard by the viagra but not really turned on enough to climax.

JAV often has the opposite problem where the guy can't stay hard.

WESTERN PORN: I started "collecting" western porn back in the VHS days. I think 1990 was the first tape I ever bought.

90s US porn vs Y2K porn is very different for many reasons (as stated by fenton and others). However aside from the parodies genre which are everywhere, american Y2K porn is mostly gonzo, which actually began in the early 90s (maybe even thr late 80s). Rosebud productions' Rex Borski is perhaps the man to "blame" for gonzo. Scene fades in, two couples in a room already undressing each other with cocks usually already hard.

JAV stuff is tough to comment as I am a newbie. However I did take notice back in the 90s with the Shuttle Japan bukkake stuff, and again like many have stated above, there are some differences, mainly the image quality, the level of pixelation (when two guys were on either side of the kneeling idol cumming simultaneously, her whole face was blurred!).

I think that if you purpously dive into the 90s and today's JAV stuff, you will see that there are many differences.

I think the only "country" which's porn never "evolved" was Canada, or rather the local Quebec stuff. They were saved by the post-Y2K online content in my opinion. BUt in general terms most of "our" productions looked amateurish at best.

Viagra had a huge part to play in ruining porn. In the 90s the male lead used to have to be aroused by the female star and that chemistry would be palpable on screen. Nowadays it's chemically induced and so lacks any passion.
mike adriano, that guys fucks asses without coming would be impossible without viagra, the dude must be so bored with anal by now
