I am not sure where to post this so hopefully this will be ok. I have begun searching for an AI ap that will remove the mosaics from JAV. I have Videoproc Converter AI but I cannot find an option to remove mosaics. There's an ap that claims to do it called deepmosaics but the install requires a ton of dependant aps tobe installed and to be honest the install process is way too confusing for me. Does anyone know if there is such an ap that can remove mosaics? Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks for that info Greg. It seems that the interest in this technology would be limited to preverted JAV officianados and therefore the incentive to develop the technology is limited. I can't think of any other situation where someone would be interested in this capability. I suspect that at some stage AI will resolve the issue but until then we'll just have to roll with it. The GAN I mention there are developed purely out of scientific interest though — and with some more general benefits. They're not just for mosaics removal. If you think about it, mosaic is just a blurry image, so it can be used to improve video resolution as well. If you search for GAN AI in video restoration, for example, there are quite a few papers and articles on that topic and a lot of them don't mention porn at all 
So, I would be more optimistic: it's just that the porn enthusiasts will need to make this general technology work for porn

Ultimately I've been watching JAV for a lot of Years and the mosaic has a certain charm and I can certainly live with it but I have seen a couple of titles where they mosaic had been , improved, and I thought, well hey, that would be cool if I could do that. Ya know what? I was just wading through some titles to try to find covers for javluv and I just remembered why I wanted to see if I could unmosaic some of these titles. I have a bunch of quite old (70's-80's) JAV and the cats that were censoring the videos in those days went a little overboard with the mosaic. Sometimes half the screen is mosaic. I will have to keep hoping that somebody develops an AI ap that can anticipate what may be under that heavily mosaiced video. Cheers.
They also use mosaics to blur out the faces of those people who did not agree to be filmed (e.g. passers-by), copyrighted material (e.g. books, magazines, brand names) and so on. Maybe the title you were watching had a lot of outdoors scenes
