Sad news, but not surprising - She was putting out a lot of stuff, couldn't see it lasting.

I think I'll start with denial and anger ....

Ok ,I'm not an expert...What does a jav girl who's been this successful generally do when she retires? Will she get mainstream films/tv?

Yeah, exactly.
The rate she put out videos was insane, she must be one of the most active performers out there.
And then she started doing uncensored and anal and all that good stuff, and the end usually isn't far off after that.

is that source realiable ?

its a very sad news, while her best friend Wakaba Ono make a comeback, she get retire :(

Yeah, also read that. Means she doesn't have any goals anymore in the JAV industry. :(

yes I think the same, she had so many maybe to much in the past few years, so she became lost interest :(

lets hope she just take a long vacation, don't be like Ran Asakawa

target missing is.

That's a lousy lousy reason to quit anything. Hopefully she has a new target in life. Mainstream media? Go into business? Marry a man and become a kept woman?

For most JAV performers, I wish they achieve the last option (kept woman). Japanese society is unkind to a single and/or career woman, no matter if that career is socially acceptable or not.

But for Ai Uehara, her AV career is so amazing, her look is recognizable, it's hard to see how she could ever fade into happy blissful obscurity.

For someone of her statue, she should work so hard and so long that she has a investment portfolio with an obscene number of zeros in it to keep her and her boy toy(s) living large for the rest of her life.

if she doesn't spend to much I'm sure she have a lot of money in her account, she could live a happy life overseas, make total disappeareance like Ran Asakawa did

It's not too hard to come up with a ballpark figure for her career earning isn't it? How many non-compilation vids has she released? What's the going rate for a top idol "solo-work"? I seem to remember something like 200,000 Yens. Take a 50% discount for compilation DVD... (actually I don't even know if the studio release a compilation vid without asking the performer to shot a new scene, does she make any extra money?) Where are you @Inertia ?

Also for harem/orgy vids, I could imagine each actress takes a smaller-than-solo pay, since theoretically each actress would have to "work less". 100k? 150k? for harem vids?

Uncensored is supposed to pay more... 300k? 500k?

Her career is only 4 years, has she made 200 vids? that's still only 40 millions yens, give or take 20. That's barely enough for an average apartment outside of Tokyo (forget Tokyo itself), assuming she hasn't spent a yen on even food, so far. How is she going to feed herself for the rest of her life?

I smell a come-back already.

don't know how much top grade actresses rate are, but I guess more than 200.000 yen, or perhaps 200.000 for each scene ? AV these days usually have 3-6 scenes per movie

compare to Maria Ozawa who had much fewer AV than Ai Uehara, I seen from interview she already got her own apartement (I guess its more than mid class) from her income as AV actress

and I know costs in japan are very high, so if she want to live happy with her retirement saving, she should leave Japan to other country that had lower life costs. I wish her comeback too ;)

I know its an evil and selfish thinking, but I oftenly wishes for those hot female performers to keep working in the AV industry for the longest as possible

I'm actually curious as to the abundance of people who dislike/hate Ai Uehara. Most of their reasoning (mostly revolving around 'baby's first JAV idol') being quite stupid.

"Got an apartment" is different from owning it. Especially in Japan, when I visit there quite a few years ago, my host told me he took a 100-year mortgage, which was not uncommon, supposedly. His is a one-income family and he and his wife can't have children, with only about 25 years of work before retirement, by the time they retire, it's almost guaranteed they won't have much ownership of that house.

She is most likely got a large debt on her apartment so she need to find a source of continuous income. You know she's only 23!! Unless my math is way off and she's got like 400 million yens career earnings, I think it was financially foolish for a 23 years old to get into home ownership and mortgage slave. For one thing it will make it much more difficult to cover the mortgage while living aboard from Japan (for any reason).

And ... Japanese are amazing tourists, they love to travel aboard. But they don't like LIVING aboard. If the result of quitting a career is to be forced to move to lower-cost-of-life country, say Korea, I think most Japanese will say no.

As for the general retirement question. We've talked about it enough times... I just wish every AV performer to have a good happy life. No matter if she's a 1-hit wonder or career pro. Yes when I see a particular hot body and/or good fucker and/or the most extreme S&M slut/bitch, I might wish she never retire. But in the grand scheme of things, it's kind of amazing that any women (young women) could join the adult/sex industry and then leave. The barrier/stigma of sex industry is so low in Japan that the pool of potential performer is so much bigger. In my environment, their are a lot of young women, not a few are quite pretty, some with great figures. But almost all of them would never consider working in adult entertainment because the social stigma is so high.

working as porn performer meaning they took very high risk, loose their privacy, get negative judgement from society, health issue, ecc so they must earn big

and for s grade star they must earn very big so they still can live a happy & comfortable life years after their retirement, I don't say your math is way off, but I think she earn bigger than whats we expect

it says she doesn't have any goals any more because she became #1, which is a little different. that shows ambition!

the site also says it's planning to publish an exclusive interview about her retirement soon, so stay tuned i guess.

What about money made from endorsement deals, public appearances etcetera? Maybe she's made investments with the money she's earned? Idk, I just think that there's more than meets the eye.
