Do you have any specific example of a title that you recently downloaded here where you weren't able to seek? I don't remember any of the original posts being broken so I'm curious to see if they got corrupted somehow, if I'm remembering wrong and some of the originals are also corrupted or they're simply new versions that weren't uploaded before.
Also, if you encounter a file that asfbinwin can't handle or is still broken after being remuxed, SolveigMM ASF Multiplexer will usually be able to take care of it properly. I don't know if there's a gui using that filter, I always simply registered it on my system and used graphstudionext to load the filter and play the file using it to create the remuxed file.
It's usually a sign that something went wrong with the files when you're unable to seek like that, could be just one bit that got corrupted or something small you wouldn't notice and it messes everything up. Could also be a codec issue but that's less likely.
I'm also mostly using mpchc or mpcbe and have no issue seeking with the ones I have(but you can use any directshow codec with those, unlike WMP or VLC, depends what you have installed and configured). WMP tends to be more forgiving with broken files so seeking will usually work with it regardless.
I wanted a specific example so I could check if it's the files themselves that have a problem or your decoder that has the issue since I like encoding stuff and investigating issues like that.

I did a few tests and apparently the source filter for wmv that comes with windows is broken(in windows 10 at least) for the original file but not the remuxed ones so if you don't have the internal filters for mpchc, that's probably your issue.
So if you see "WM ASF Reader" under filters if you right-click on the video window, that's why it has broken seeking, not sure why exactly though, wmv files are often complicated.
You can either fix it by installing LAV filters or installing a version of MPCHC that comes with the internal LAV filters(the exe installer comes with it but the archive version may not unless you also get the standalone filter pack).
And if you have a mix of windows and LAV decoders and are experiencing slow seeking, you can fix it by going into the options, in the external filters and adding the windows one and setting it to block. After closing the video and re-opening it, it should not use the filter you blocked and will seek fine.

The original team discontinued the project because of a lack of developers interest but some guy is keeping it alive with small bug fixes and stuff like that.
I'm still downloading one of the files uploaded by mickey_kenny just to make sure it's the same file as the original post since it was renamed and I'll test it to make sure but it seems to be the case from the file size.
Edit: Finished downloading it and they're almost identical so that's not an issue with his files. Somehow it has an extra 0 at the end but that's not something that should affect things other than waste a tiny bit of space.

The old player can play them too(I tested it with the last version on the website too), just depends on what directshow stuff it's set to use, just check what you see under filters when you're playing a wmv file. But yeah, if you want one file it won't matter, unless you find a shorter movie that's only one file and it has that issue.
