A lot of them starts out as gravure idols to pink v-cinema actresses(direct to DVD softcores) before they become av actresses. Mihiro is the best example. Many switch their career because their agency ask them to or they're at risk of being drop by them in order to promote other newbies since the competitions and turnover rates are high. Yui hatano chose av because there's lesser competitions and easier to find fame and venture to mainstream media these days.

If I understood google translate correctly she is the same person as 赤根 京 who did some idol stuff where she did show her boobs but didn't actually have sex.

I was talking about the actress in TEK-089. The bits I saw were topless only, no simulated sex but that doesn't have to mean there wasn't any.

Matsumoto Nanami was err...Matsumoto Nanami. Unlike most others, she never did change her name on entering JAV. I'm guessing her gravure idol name must have been false from the start.

Haruka Kitagawa. Similar to Aya Tanaka, supposedly she was a local news anchor. She did only 2 videos, both with a news anchor theme of course.

And I say she "was" a news anchor because I doubt she continued to be a news anchor on TV after receiving facials from 56 different men in a single video. But you never know I guess.
