"Discovered" an old old "celeb" to AV. Minami Hirahara 平原みなみ active in AV for just over 1 year in 2012. Supposedly former AKB "research student".

The only 48 girl of any significance to do porn is Yua Mikami, and even then she was pretty low-tier in terms of popularity. I think if you asked a bunch of Japanese people, even otakus, who this girl was, they wouldn't know.

There's also another active girl doing porn with actual AKB links Ryo Sakata aka Miu Sana she was a candidate for like a few months before leaving in 06. Maxing thought she'd be big stuff because of her akb links but she failed, and they cut her 4 movies in, she's still around(maybe) but doesn't much work.
There are two others with some akb links but didn't care enough to post them because one did 1 probably fake penetration movie for Muteki, and the other is Nana Mizushima who is with prestige, and is terrible.

The list of former AKB48 trainees is so long that it does not look like any wiki dedicated to the 48 groups are even bothering to record them anymore. They only keep track of members who actually got promoted into a group before they left. Those who never made the step up are mostly forgotten except for the few early ones.
It won't be surprising if any of these former trainees delved into porn or risque gravure, but for the most part its like paparoach said - even idol fans will struggle to place the face if she was only a trainee.

Stage48 is the best, they have every member who was a trainee or a member of one of there groups, if they where a member/trainee we'd know, know we don't know everyone who ever tried out though, and that's impossible to know and they where most likely someone that tried out

A certain unknown (to me) studio puts out this awesome awesome cover.
A quick google on the idol's name 木南ほのか is at least supporting the claims on the cover: that she was a former member of a J-pop group. She has a twitter account @kinamihonoka and push out an insane amount of fluffs. Hoepfully this is sign that she is serious about her JAV career.

As expected, the vid cover and all her twitter selfies are heavily doctored. There were some hints of it prior to the drop of the actual vid, so I was mentally prepared for the worst. When vid starts rolling, she turns out not the worst case scenario. Yes she has a big, HUGE face. And under that very cute uniform, she seems meaty but not a huge pig. She did a little bit of dance moves (but maybe 3 years away from the stage makes her rather rusty). She mouthed some fragments of lyrics but seems more muttering to herself to help recall the dance move rather than risking us hearing her singing. Still... broken bits of dance moves that otherwise would be painful is quite amazing for a JAV.
So we got to nudity and sex. Turns out she has B-minus tits to go with her big-big-bone figure. Her ass is also rather weak, neither supple nor firm-toned. Well at least her skin isn't very bad.

According to various Chinese sources, there were already four JAV idols coming out of BSI: the previous four are : 桜もこ, 木南ほのか, 千早希, 知花みく. That's pretty remarkable if you ask me.
One curious thing is Yui Nagase lost almost 3 years to her age during the transition from J-pop to JAV. Her J-pop birthday was 1997/3/12, her AV birthday is 1999/11/30. Well yes nowadays anyone can build herself up as some kind of celeb, so there's no guarantee that the shtick would work when AV use the celeb status to sell porn.
Especially for us in outside (of Japan) world, say an olympic skier, how many can name 1/10 of all current and recent Japanese olympic skiers? So what if one of them do porn? If I'm not aware of her prior of AV, then she's not a celeb for me. She might be (somewhat? barely? very?) well known to Japanese public, but if she's not known to me then I get no special interest in such celeb-JAV.
So my interest in this genre is when such AV offers something special. So it's broadly 3 (slightly overlap) categories: (1) hot girl, (2) star quality (3) production value and role-play. (1) is obvious, we all like good looking girls in AV, so a celeb is likely to be hot, so the celeb aspect is just assurance or promise that she is hot. But of course it's never a guarantee. Minor J-pop group favors girls for dance skills so both face and figure are variable. Good examples are Shoko Takasaki, a gravue model is of course quality assurance for hot girl. (2) star quality, fashion sense, make-up (yes even make-up is often done by assistant, the same mark-up artist can get better result depending on the girl) mannerism, gesture, facial expression etc. Great example is Yua Mikami, she was never a star in J-pop, but in the low-standard AV world, her star quality is bursting. A counter example is Aimi Yoshikawa, she is very hot, amazing figure and actually quite pretty face too, but she just doesn't know how to smile for the camera and in general manipulate her face. She has great hotness but negative star quality. (3) no matter how legit the original celeb is celeb, often the AV would play up the idol background and dress her up or have her perform a little bit. Sometimes it's a fake press conference with fake reporters asking fake questions. All these role playing leading to the sex scene are quite entertaining. No one does this better than Yua Mikami, even when the vid isn't a J-pop idol role play, she insist on dialing up the drama and acting and costumes and production value. If you look at all her S1 vids, and compare to all S1 vids on average, Yua Mikami vids have at least double the production value (budget). E.g. many more dialog lines, more (bad) acting, more shots (e.g. in corridor, in different rooms) before settling in the room where the sex is to happen.
(4) Do it as a "real" fan-appreciation vid where the fans can cum anywhere in/on the girl then maybe it will pique my interest

The girl was probably only known among her sport public. Plus winter olympics are less popular than Summer olympics. That's not quite talking about the same thing. What I mean is that Japan (like any country except USA) has their own set of celebs that's meaningful to their citizens but unknown to rest of world. But for us in rest of world, unless we have some reference, e.g. internationally known j-pop group (AKB48) or olympic team, we have no way to distinguish between real or fake celeb. And then no matter real or fake, we also have our criteria if we care Miss X-san being a celeb of Y credential doing an AV for studio/label Z, so do we even care? I think what matter to us in rest of world is different from Japanese domestic fan base. They would care more about what kind of credential Y is. I would care more about what kind of hottie X is (and sometimes but not always, the credential Y, e.g. top gravue idol guarantee X's hotness) and I care about what quality is the AV studio Z.
So sometimes the credential Y could be very weak but the X and Z can be very fappilicious.

She was a "Reader model", meaning a girl could send photos of herself to magazines in the hope the mag would print them. It's possible she was then taken up as a financially-compensated magazine model for a while. Then indeed she was a dancer for a short time. And then settled into a career in sex trade. She was a bar hostess, a handjob girl and escort. Finally she announced on her IG that she's quitting as escort to "do something big (with her career)" which turns out to be JAV.
So bottomline she is a sex worker who at the very beginning had invested a minimal effort to be in some public media. Now that's all it takes for S1 to promote as a celeb-AV debut? Not just I am skeptical, playno1 reports that the Japanese fandom is crying foul too.
