I'm not sure about that. I read a few times that there is a chance to get in these establishments. But it depends how you look (no, I don't mean Japanese) and how good your Japanese is.

i have read the same thing in a few places that talk about such things, but the feeling that i get is if you are non-Japanese getting into pink salons and soaplands is damn near impossible unless A) you are fluent in japanese both reading and writing and/or B) you have a Japanese friend that takes you there and vouches for you. otherwise its shitty Chinese or Korean dives with fat 30 to 50 year old sex slaves or you get the "no dogs, cats or non Japanese" treatment. we all here want the young smoking hot JK girls that only work at Japanese only places. the kind of places that JAV stars work and like

You can get into those places provide you speak the language fluently or close to it and you have the money.

They aren't racist. Rather, since they are selling the potential for sex, they don't want communication issues.

If you don't speak Japanese and/or have to come in with a Japanese friend to help translate, forget it.

I wouldn't want foreigners either if they couldn't communicate because two naked strangers who can't talk to each other could lead to serious issues because the whole actual sex part is on the ura menu.

And yes, if you call and ask if foreigners are allowed in less than perfect Japanese, you may be told no. Learn the language and you'll be fine.

i have foreign friends that get into the japanese places just fine. you do need to speak good japanese of course.

It's never too late. But I recommend a evening course. At least I need always someone who's kicking my ass. Otherwise I'm too lazy. Even better than an even course is of course to visit a language school in Japan for some time.
