I'm currently in Japan and planning on bring 25 DVDs back to Canada. I'm putting them all in my Suitcase, should I be worried about customs going through them. Non of them are loli's but I'm still kind of worried. Has anybody gone through a similar situation? These are not jav I can get online.

its not illegal copies ?

first make sure you have read all the rules & laws in Canada, do they have limit for dvds that you can bring, and also the genres, make sure its not forbid

some countries are sensitive to rough sex / r*** theme, beastiality, gay porn, ecc

even if it's original copies you can't bring it out of japan it's against their law, if you get caught there will be a fine. my japanese friends told me.

When I was living in Canada, I had no problems bringing a DVD or two back when ever I visited Japan. Dunno about such a large volume, however.

Wait? You can't bring DVDs out of Japan? A bit odd, isn't it? You sure there's such a law?

Regardless, this shouldn't be much of a problem, no? They hardly ever check departures, not unless they have reason to suspect you are bring something dangerous onto the flight or that you might be a smuggler of some sorts (like stolen goods, not DVDs). Else airports generally prefer to leave customs checks to the destinations.

There are certain goods that you can obtain a tax refund for (like high-end green tea) where they will seal your purchase to ensure that the items will only be consumed outside of Japan. They will give you a receipt that you will be required to present at the airport along with your passport. They might check at that point to ensure that you didn't break the seal or wrapping but not always. However, they aren't going to search the rest of your belongings if that package is on top and obviously intact.

I would think that bring such a large volume would raise some questions. the only think that comes to mind is how on Amazon.co.jp doesn't allow the export sell of jav dvd.

The absolute safest solution would be to rip the discs and upload them to a file locker.
2 or 3 no one cares, if it's legal porn in Canada. But 25?
Absolutely. I'm sure it's too late for the OP by now, but, ripping the disc to ISO and uploading to Google Drive or something similar is the best. The only thing left is to remove any DVD cover art inserts and place them in some magazines you bring with you. Get home, buy DVD cases or trade out for some old ones you have that you don't want anymore. Now you have the DVD case with original art work and inserts. Just burn the ISO and there you have it.

I just brought back around 60 dvd. I put all the dvds in a dvd binder, so no case. Put in my suit case with the covers seperated, had no problem with customs at airport. This is just my experience maybe I got lucky. I don't recommend bring extreme jav(scat, realistic loli, fake gore) back into canada. These are banned material, don't risk it.

I am glad you managed to get the AVs back to Canada. :)
As somebody who has brought back over 1,000 AVs, I understand it can be a bit harrowing. Besides that, I am in the U.S.A., and my Customs inspection point is or would be in Chicago, San Francisco, or Los Angeles, which are more tolerant of adult-oriented material. But besides that; the new Customs procedure for the U.S.A. now no longer asks you specifically what you bought in Japan; it only asks if the value of that is under $800. (It is not even a human being asking. It is a question on the customs kiosk.)
I have been shown flights returning from Japan in which the seemingly lowest-cost flight would require me to transit through Vancouver or Toronto. As far as I am concerned, those flights will be summarily dismissed.
I'll encourage you to buy a big package of (double) CD / DVD sleeves. I think that can still be found at Don Quijote, which you should be shopping anyway, although Next 11 Club now shoots mostly Middle-Of-the-Road porn. ;)
For the box covers, find a big envelope that will let you slide in all of them unfolded. Keep in mind, it should have some depth also.
Essentially, if you are asked by a Canadian Customs official what you are bringing in from Japan, tell him / her, DVDs. -Just "DVDs"-. If this elicits a query of what is on them, deflect the query by (truthfully) stating, "These DVDs were only released in Japan." If he/she persists, wanting a description of the content, remark, "Licensing, music, copyright regulations: These DVDs are not going to get a Canadian release.".
Please continue visiting Japan and bringing back more AVs (and JI videos, if you wish) to North America. At the very least, I will appreciate you. ;)
