When an actress's segment from one of her movies is used in one of these numerous compilation videos, is she paid for the use of that segment for that compilation video? I would guess not, but would like to hear what other more knowledgeable members say

Good question. I think it would depend on the contract. If it states the studio has the rights to the scene(s), then they could relicense those rights for a compilation or omnibus. If the contract was restricted to the one move, then no. Not sure how savvy or how much leverage actresses have.

she said that they can make money from her old movies and she got nothing.

In the current JAV system of vetted production companies and actress' rights, all or a portion of the money for an appearance reused in a compilation goes to the actress directly. This started in 2018 with the founding of the industry group AVAN. AVAN handles payment from publishers directly to performers without involving the management agencies.

Interestingly you can look on the AVAN website for a PDF list of every actress who has yet to register to get direct payments. The list is mainly for actresses to check for themselves to make sure they are properly registered. As of 10 September 2022, there are 4914 current and former performers on the list who have not signed up with AVAN to get paid. (So if you search the list for your favorite actress' name and you don't find it, that's a good thing!)
