Declining quality of the rips

I looked for but I cannot find any thread, so I am opening this one...

What is happening lately? I see tons of rips of 600 Mb, 500 Mb, even 300 Mb or less... or even 800 Mb for 4 hours movies. And besides the dimensions, the quality is horrid.

The worst thing is that when one of these releases spreads, it discourages other rippers from providing other more acceptable SD versions...

So, what's the point? These versions are becoming more popular as they are more suitable for I-phones? Some historical rippers retired? Is it just a temporary issue because we are in the summer?

Yeah, what the hell. Ruined two perfectly good Ichika Kamihata as well as Aki Sasaki movies for me. Now I always have to be scared with every new release that it's one of "those".

Gone are the days where Nike was still active and there are still ISOs for those who wants the best.

Today's rippers are most likely people who have no love for what they do and are paid by their outputs per day for those watermarked releases. So there are no incentive for them to up their game unless people stop downloading those low quality SD releases.

SD content in general just doesn't do it for me anymore, especially for JAV because the blur censorship almost blocks off the entire action. In HD, there's enough pixels to get a much clearer picture even with the blur censor.

Unfortunately it's very hard to find HD versions of a lot of movies. I have dozens, if not hundreds, of movies that I've made a list of that need to be downloaded in HD.

Yeah, I am also for HD and FHD, sorry if I was not clear enough about that. The point is that the (many) ones which do not get released in HD recently are going released in a quality which I cannot even call SD... it's nightmerish, just terrible, it looks well below 360p. I am certain it looks bad even in i-phone screens. There is a big difference between a standard 1.5/2 Gb rip and a 390 Mb rip.

Here's the weird part.

Those 500 - 600 mb files still feature the same famous yellow ad text as seen in my avatar that you always get in most releases. I thought one specific group was responsible for these rips and the thing is, if that's the case, they're very inconsistent, because you still get a bunch of 1,3GB or whatever files of current movies.

The bad quality is one of the reasons I switched to FHD movies as well but indeed, not every movies are shared in HD or FHD. I guess it depends if the girl is popular enough among the worldwide community. For example, some S1 movies aren't available in HD or some smaller studios (well, maybe some smaller studios don't even sell them in HD).

Big thanks to Conquistador for all the FHD releases. As a Kokomi Sakura fan, I have a lot if choice.

I watch SD only but I only download non-watermarked FHD files and make my own SD files. If people continue to accept and download low quality, watermarked files, then that's all that will be available.

It absolutely has to do with Tube sites. That is where these watermarked lower quality files come from. They are not rips themselves, they are down-converted versions of the originally ripped/watermarked titles. They upscale the display to 480p or higher but the actual dimensions is well below that. That is why most 1080p sites often provide 720p just presented as full screen FHD.

Also, if you want quality, it is rarely freely available these days.

So the files are recompressed 2 extra times and also downscaled and then reupscaled in the process. lol, I can't even begin to imagine how terrible these videos look.

I don't know how you guys can go back to watching SD videos after HD and FHD became a thing... unless your favorite actresses aren't very attractive and you don't want to see them in HD...

Can you list a few of these codes that you can't get FHD? For almost any new release, Thz.la rips are available and pretty much perfect. Only recently I encountered a vid that I wanted to check out and for some recent Thz.la skipped that one vid (releasing the sequential vids before and after from the same series). So I hunted and found a 720p rip, which turns out... the rip is OK enough. But the girls are so ugly that I deleted the vid (which I almost never do).

So just an anedote: whatever I'm interested to get, Thz.la has it. And then when there's one Thz.la doesn't release, turns out they were right to skip it.

It might be a eternal curse on porn (not just digital media JAV, I mean all the way back to hand-painted, hand-carved erotic arts), good thing doesn't last long. These tube sites are ruining everything. Sooner or later, we will have no choice but back to medieval offline sex.

seems some people want to get back in time when old mobile phone still using 3gp vids

those guys don't care about their eyes health just ignore those poor quality shit, as we can choose to download bigger files and of course much better audio visual quality

hmm about this, made me think, plenty of DMCA complaints recently -> plenty of porn vids has been deleted and uploader been banned, maybe poor quality vids is the way for them to avoid those DMCA patrol, usually they ignore short clips and poor quality voods

I almost feel like I am that lucky kid find a stash of porn mags in some back alley. I didn't take it home (had nowhere to hide from parents), nor tell any friends (can't trust them to keep their mouth shut). So everyday after school I took a few extra minutes in that alley, whack off to the stash and spend all day at school thinking hope the stash is still there for one more day.

There's some clues that Thz.la is being chased around the net too. I still manage to follow them as they move. It seems if more people (Nyaa, Google, Akiba-online) find out how to access their releases, it will threaten their existence. So remaining obscure and not-so-accessible maybe their survival tactics. Like that stash of mags, seems it won't last forever.

If only R18 would relax their DRM policy so a "purchase" really feels like a purchase. Actually I did buy a few DVD and BD discs that I ended up not even opening. I already got the DRM-free FHD rip. Neither DVD nor BD is a match for the quality AND convenience. It's just for a kind of keepsake. Problem is where I live it's much much much harder to buy the legit discs than to download a pirated copy.

Not sure if I can call any of today's watermarked copies "rips" be it SD or FHD. From my experience of what little I got of legit disc releases of Moodyz, they got their copyright protection right since Handbrake and Makemkv does not work on them. By that extent, I believe this extent to all other releases from studio under CA as well. Not sure about other studio here as I have not made any disc purchases from them yet.

So the only way to work around the copyright protection or DRM is to play the video and use a capture card and cap the video as it play. Whether the quality is as good as the legit releases is up for debate now. But technically, they are not exact 1:1 releases.

MDB- latest one is 801, so wait a few more days
CESD- latest one is 415, wait a few more days
LID- found 056, I 'd bet a dollar -053 is also available, buried in the back.

GVG, SDMU, RCTD, these 3 I would be surprised if Thz.la don't release the ones you are looking for.

The rest, tiny bit less certain, but actually almost the same, they should have it.

FHD are a little bit big to handle, but download is no problem, takes under 30 mins most of the time, fills up the HDD a bit fast. Sometimes I archive the FHD on some media and then re-encode it to 720p and keep that on my normal HDD for daily fapping.

Well... the key point is moderation... I fap no more than 10 times a week, so I wouldn't download 10 vids a wk, right? Not even 3 per week, mostly. So FHD is quite manageable.

PS: the missing one that I mentioned before (the ugly girls) was actually RCTD-007, they release all the ones before and after 007. I now respect them more because they skipped it!

PPS: hmm the most recent VOSS and GVG were from 1.5 months ago. Wonder if they had an unstable period this summer.... I must say the torrents used to be super fast. Now... sometimes it takes more than 1 day to finish. A bad feeling about this.
