there seems to be a new batch of 720p HDMP4 torrents

they often have this kind of naming 'HD-XXXX-###'

I hope someone can confirm if they are less choppy than the thz ones

if you can't wait for the FHD torrents to be posted here..just go to the sukebei site and search 'FHD'

I mean, if you use nyaa.si, and go to their fap section, they already have tons of FHD stuff.

I can confirm Thz.la releases are never choppy.

I can confirm many Caribbean 1080p vids play back very poorly on my budget PC (basically a tablet on a tabletop format) and some new watermarkless FHD vids (5+ GB) found on nyaa.si also slightly unreliable.

Finally Thz.la also release those vids (SSNI-008 in particular) so I grab them and yep, 4.1GB (20% smaller than the watermarkless version) and play back perfectly.

So the problem isn't with the rips, most likely hardware but maybe also due to device driver or virus.

Thats strange for me the 1080p thz.la have some frame stuttering for example KTKQ-005

but the FHDMP4 no watermark ones are smoother..but yes way bigger file size for example TMEM-097

I just saw the new 720p type from 99thz..probably related to thz.la group...and the play back is smoother than the 1080p thz.la type with a smaller file size...for example TSHT-001

Please guys, use MediaInfo to analyze your files and you'll be able to see why some are smoother and better quality than others. Nothing to do with file size. You can have an 8GB garbage file. It's all about bitrate and encoding methods and codecs.

THZ releases are screen captures that have missing frames. So as a result, they DO stutter (as hairy_bush pointed out). Open these videos in a video editor and view them frame by frame if you want to see why they skip.

hardware and viruses have nothing to do with it.

I noticed sometimes the unDRMed FHD WMVs don't play smoothly either, but the SD MP4 file I make from it using Handbrake plays smoothly. So maybe the playback software and hardware can have an effect. It is confusing sometimes.

Yes, software and/or under performing hardware can have an affect on playback (especially on wmvs), thats not whats going on with thz releases however. No pc is capable of playing those smoothly, since the video itself is flawed.

Even with the alleged missing frames I found Thz.la to be the best release group overall. (1) vid quality is very good, (I am not in a habit to view JAV frame by frame, usually my hands are busy), (2) file size are very reasonable, (3) they release everything that I care about, actually they release much much more, but what matters is that the vids I want are almost 100% guaranteed covered by them, if sometimes there's a 5-15 days wait. NO more anxiety of wondering if a good watermarkless rip (well actually anything but the yellow watermark was OK by me) would ever be released for any particular anticipated vid. And less anxiety means more erection. (4) there's a good place to get the "official" torrent, no fuzzing and guessing which torrents are which release group or wondering if a website (nyaa.si) is missing a release.

My pre-thz.la habit was to always try to find a source with accompanying screens to check for various issues, watermarks mostly but there are other more infuriating flaws, e.g. incomplete rips (missing second part of a 2-disc vid), or even the wrong vids. But some uploaders even circumvent my caution by uploading a watermarkless screens to accompany a watermarked vid. With Thz.la, no need, they are consistent and reliable. You know what you will get from them. If there are really missing frames or less than perfect rerecording they don't interfere with my enjoying.

Even if there's an unflawed vid somewhere out there (cue The X-Files music), I'd rather save the minutes and hours of searching and downloading multiple copies and comparing side by side frame by frame to find the perfect version, I'd rather grab the one reliable release. I have only so little time devoted to JAV per wk, I'd rather spend more of that time watching and fapping.

If there's another group with the above positives and no "skipping frames" I'd gladly switch.

I wasn't implying file size predicts quality and/or playback success rater. But sometimes they do matter.

Small file size is one of two things, (1) it's such an advanced amazing codec that high quality is maintain with extremely high compression, but sometimes that causes problem because we might want to play it back on a budget PC which may choke on the advanced decoding algorithm, (2) much much more likely this is the case: the file is compressed or recompressed with little regard to video quality, this also may cause playback issue or it actually plays back fine but the loss (during encoding) is so severe you might as well forget it.

Large file size is one of many things (1) duh it might just be a long vid (4+ hours), (2) it's an older, low compression ratio encoder (even MP2, such as DVD/ISO) (3) it's not older, just plain low compression ratio encoder, (4) the group mis-tuned the compression parameters. If it's a low compression file, sometimes you run into bandwidth problem as (say, network drive) the hardware struggle to stream so many megabyte per second to the playback device.

Often I got the Caribbean vids that look entirely original (directly from the official Caribbean website?) but they are double the size of Thz.la vids (typical 3-4GB per hour) but my bedroom budget PC choke on them consistently. I doubt it's bandwidth issue, so it seems there's something about the decoder that it has poor compression ratio AND eats up all the CPU cycles on playback, very annoying!

I choose slower Preset (Slow) in Handbrake to reduce size without lowering Quality or choosing higher Profile. I just leave profile at Main because apparently High creates more demand on the CPU during playback, and since I share my files, I have to make sure everyone else can play the file.

So there's a lot of factors affecting size and quality, besides size and quality.

I find that the official WMVs (unDRMed) have very poor quality for their size. These are huge 3000kbps or 6000kbps files but they look terrible. But they have the least compression, screen capture is just further compression, so the original large files are my preference. But such large files are not something I could justify keep on my computer 24/7, let alone using the bandwidth to share with other people.

Hah, just as I defended Thz.la I come across one that fails. MIDE-389, it plays with a steady stutter that's not entirely unwatchable (like Caribbean 1080p), but after 5 mins of watching and fapping, my mind was in a jerky state. So... fine... there's something real to the complaints (not entirely surprising). So I want look for a another FHD to download but alas it's a 10 months old release, no seed...

Then out of (???) desperation, I bring it to work to check on my high end PC, whoop it plays perfectly. No stutter whatsoever. Then I investigate a little and found out MIDE-389 is the only one 59.94 fps Thz.la release, all the rest (those that I check) are 29.97 fps So it seem my bedroom budget PC is choking on the 60 fps, not the frames are missing from the release.

So now I am not sure my experience with MIDE-389 is related to the complaint against Thz.la. At least it proves to me (again) that some (many) playback issue are hardware performance issue. 1920x1080x60 is a lot of pixels to decode and render. Yes sometimes the release groups mess up (MIDE-389 I consider a minor slip, since it's quite fixable by re-encoding)

I am even hoping that tweaking some settings on VLC player can make the 60fps MIDE-389 smooth on my budget PC, that will save me the work of re-encoding. When I have time to test it, will report.

My version of MIDE-389 doesn't seem to be Thz.la as there is no watermark on it (6,15 Gb). It's also 59.94 fps and plays fine on my laptop. Also, I don't really see the point of 59.94 fps instead of 29.97 fps. Sometimes, it makes it more "weird" than smooth. A tech guy I follow on youtube talked about it and I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this way. Plus mainstream movies on bluray aren't 60 fps. My point is bigger numbers don't always mean better quality.

To me 60fps gives a bit of a "I filmed this myself" illusion, really. That's just me. AND...if you've ever bought an actual physical JAV DVD and played it on a TV, that's how it looks. I always thought they had a "film" look because I downloaded everything. But that's just the interlaced video being brought down to 29.97fps.

It stinks that lately the BS WATERMARK people have decided to create really lousy lo-rez lo-size lo-quality copies of the latest videos JUST so they can attach their BS and useless watermarks. The methods they are using now are lowering the quality back to VHS or worse.

Now that you mention it, I think that's this kind of effect I noticed as well. I never bought a physical JAV bluray or DVD. I didn't look for website offering overseas shipping, but I have bought some digital versions.

I bought a pirated burned DVD from 8Jav.com once. I was completely surprised when I played it on a TV. I thought, OH! It's just like a western porn movie [in video quality] just with a actual dramatic story!

Remember, they aren't releasing things for us, so quality is the last priority for them. They are releasing to be the first to do so, so consumers if their works will see their name and ads.

Regular 1+ GB SD releases seem to become more frequent again, hopefully people's download habits (i.e., lack of downloads.) made them reconcider.

I want to revoke my statement. Things are getting worse again. I mean, in the end, you can still find HD rips most of the time, but the amount of bad SD rips surpasses that of the good ones again.

Why !! Can someone explain to me why!! Why the shittier rips, 500mb, are getting more DL's than FHD/HD!!

whats the point of posting FHD/HD if people are downloading crappy stuff when both are free!!

It's like choosing between crack over pure heroin

It's like choosing a $10 crack ho near the Port Authority Bus Terminal over one of your young students who wants to try foreign dick
