Declining quality of the rips

Why !! Can someone explain to me why!! Why the shittier rips, 500mb, are getting more DL's than FHD/HD!!

whats the point of posting FHD/HD if people are downloading crappy stuff when both are free!!

It's like choosing between crack over pure heroin

It's like choosing a $10 crack ho near the Port Authority Bus Terminal over one of your young students who wants to try foreign dick

Smart portable devices where storage are counted in gigabytes instead of tetrabytes are all the rage now.

Just look are the people snatching up the iPhone X instead of opting for a good desktop at the same pricing.

So back to the topic, FHD resolution was originally conceive pre smart revolution for large screen TV. But it is possible to squeeze a 4K resolution into a 6 inch screen now. So is there a point today to download a 6 gig FHD file to watch on a 5 inch screen ?

Look, you pretty much have to have a smartphone in today's age, but nevertheless, if that's the device you choose to watch your porn on, just stick to Pornhub and watch amateur clips that were recorded with a phone to begin with. No JAV for you.

I think you're missing the point. I myself can watch pretty small files (560x320 1000Kbps) on my Galaxy S8 and it does a pretty damn good job at displaying it. I'm actually impressed. Would it compare to FHD on the same screen? Not at all. Is the (sub) SD watchable? Absolutely. The same couldn't be said for my PC monitor.

Watch JAV on phone does seem kind of difficult... I prefer SD too, but 500MB for a 2 hour movie is terrible even by SD standards. But using a computer monitor maybe my standards are higher

I prefer to download the 6000kbps HD WMVs and make my own SD files to maximize quality. It also means avoiding the watermarks which is the biggest issue. I wish people would stop downloading watermarked files at least. That stuff needs to die.

not everyone has unlimited time or space to download the FHD/HD over the 500mb ones

90% of the leeches that download my uploads choose specifically the rip and not the original. There are many reasons why. I'm a bit surprised that this discussion has already blown up this much in such short time. Things are only going to get worse you know…

Gotta love how recently some uploaders for new movies on Javlibrary.com preface their post with "MOVIE NOT BROKEN!" "FILE NOT CORRUPT!"...most of the time they actually are, with skipping parts and whatnot.

On the other hand, the recent HD uploads are an improvement over the thz.la ones. They have watermarks on the upper half of the screen, sure, and while the video output is in HD, the video quality doesn't seem to be quite there, more lika a HQ rip, but at least the framerate is good. The thz.la ones could get really jumpy.

Could you post a (full) frame to show us the watermark? Something like this? MIDE-517-h264.mp4_20180306_173538.259.jpg

Yeah... it's that same release group that made all those notorious yellow-watermark rips before. Now they make HD with relatively smaller, better placed and less annoying watermark. The ~1 minute ad at the beginning is also updated but the audio is super loud and annoying just as before.

I still prefer thzla rips to yellow-watermark (I know they are light gray now) but sadly thzla has been behind schedule very badly since early Feb.

I can now search their backlog of torrents to 2015 (highly doubt any older torrents are still seeded). Unfortunately I have reasons to believe sharing it will be bad for the community.

Anyone wishing to search their backlog for a finite number of vids (say max 100 vids per userid) can send me a PM, I will respond depending on life, maybe within a few days. Format your request like this (case insensitive, 1 code per line):
Code:
HNDS-036
KAWD-711
dasd-401
abp-381

I dunno, I think these very recent HD releases are a huge improvement over what we had for over a year now. It was either SD with bad image quality and sometimes parts of the movies were skipped or rather the video would stop playing for a couple of seconds, etc. Just bad rips all around. Either that, or the thz.la rips that often turned into stop-motion monster movies.

I think thz.la is the worst out of all of them because their crap ass screen capturing drops at least 30% of the frames in a given video, it may be HD but it just barely qualifies as video with how choppy it is. The only time Ive seen such bad frame droppage was when I tried to record DRM videos with an old ghetto version of Camtasia. I dont know how they are recording their videos but it sucks, I record HD DMM stuff with OBS now and its flawless. I treat thz as a last resort now, I would rather wait for some other group.

The 2nd worst is the white text at the bottom group, like how thz.la doesnt know how to capture video they dont know how to render video, their file sizes are about 1gb bigger than yellow text videos but much worse quality, its like old youtube.

FHD is the best but the file size is bigger than it needs to be, running it through Handbrake takes a couple GBs away with no noticeable loss in quality. I'll download the yellow text SD video and wait a couple weeks hoping for a FHD release.

It sucks when a video you really like is only available from thz.la or white text group. Nobody wants yellow text but they at least know what they are doing, no choppiness and the quality is ok.

Not really debating you, but must say result is user-dependent. My failure rate for all vids that I download is very low. Last year or so... I think I've downloaded about ... let's say 70 vids per 12 months (just over 1 vid per wk) so that already tells you I'm a bit picky and maybe that biased my results... ANYWAY, out of 70 vids, I think I have playback failure for 1 or 2 vids (or ZERO vids!)

So I am really confused why you guys have such high failure rate with any group, particularly thz.la

My own experience with the same groups, is exactly reverse from your experience.

Thz.la: excellent (but definitely not perfect) video quality, semi-transparent, non-distracting watermark, but unfortunately the watermark area is larger. Fairly reliable release schedule, for the kind of vids that I like. In a good year, I download only 2 non-Thz.la vids per 70 vids. No ad, no trailers. Sadly their releases for the past month is way way behind schedule, so I've to re-start checking out other release groups. I won't know what to do if thz.la dies or don't recover from the current slump. Must also admit that their playback failure rate is greater than zero. But it is low enough that I can overlook it.

White text: excellent quality, tolerable watermark. Very unreliable release schedule, before I full became Thz.la fanboy, I was especially hunting for white text releases, but more often than not, can't find my wanted vid. About 2 or 3 out of 10 release has audio sync problem. I have 3 possible solution: mute button, manual adjust delay of the audio track in the player (Kodi or VLC) control panel, re-encode the vid myself with corrected delay (usually in 1000-1600 ms range) . Most of the time I just mute it.

Unknown group or groups: "perfect" (?) quality, NO watermark. Problem is they are even more rare than White text. Purely luck (for me). Perhaps might find 3 vids a year? Often comes in inconvenient container (WMV, MKV) and huge file inefficient compression.

Yellow text: super fast, super easy to find releases. Their release covers at least 98% of my want list. But I can't stand their older yellow watermark. I hate their SD so much that I often give up on a vid if yellow text is the only group releasing it. Now they are doing 1080p release with a more tolerable white watermark, I consider them an acceptable last resort. Also their release starts with 1-2 minutes of super annoying ads for casino and online sex. Takes me 5-10 minutes to trim those (doesn't save any disk space, but super annoying everytime I play the file). 5 mins isn't much, but I don't enjoy wasting 5 mins on such chore if it's 50+ vids per year. Before thzla went to a slump, I was so happy with my life since I don't ever need to download yellow text vids.

About compression ratio: I am no expert, I just use thz.la as gold standard: about 4000 kbps, about 4GB / 120mins vid for 1920x1080p. Often you come across huge files 6000+ kbps (6GB for 120 mins) that may stutter more than thzla. Or once in a while you still see DVD ISO being uploaded, for that you get about the same file size about 3+ GB / 120 mins but only SD quality, 480i instead of 1080p. And uncensored vids (Caribbean etc) may be 3.5 to 4.0 GB for 60 mins 1080p, these fails to playback on Atom processor, but fine on i3 and up. For those I sometimes take the trouble to re-encode the vid to 720p or 1080p for playback in my bedroom. That usually take 20-30 mins on my i7, not a fun chore, but I only do a few such vids a year.

Current situation for HD scene, for what I found.

The tmas3 rips which he posts here, always excellent! I would just love if he would post more stuff!

thz.la, whatever you consider its rips, seems moribund, for some reasons they significantly slowed their activities, and their titles-choices are often questionable (eg. why posting pointless compilations of old material instead of new stuff).

I recently discovered RUNBKK rips, and they are pretty good (this guy posts the movies in collection packs, per actress or per label, and in three formats, untouched WMV/MKV, 720p and 480p with no watermarks), the issue here is the limited choice of available titles.

Dioguitar (the former yellow mark) is the more reliable in terms of finding what you seek, and thanks god they finally adopted FHD MP4, even if it looks more HD than FHD.But the improvement is unquestionable.

Finally the MaxJav blog, which posts other teams' works, I use it as the last stand, and I found there some non-watermarked stuff of unknown origin which was impossible for me to find elsewhere (eg. FHD rips of HDKA-120, IENE-559, GETS-065, XRW-434, APNS-045), I would be curious to know where he finds them (maybe some private group of rippers?).
