I've got points announcement saying that the option to charge points has been disabled, due to administrative reasons.
So you can't buy with dmm point anymore?

The option to charge more DMM points has been disabled.
The option to pay using DMM points is still enabled. If you have still points in your account you can still pay using points.

On r18.com it only gives me the ability to rent for 7 days. Can't purchase movies or subscribe to channels currently. Been a couple days. Some sort of payment processor issue? Will we ever get to subscribe to channels again?

Yes, R18 don't accept new clients, you can't buy anything, only rent. I don't understand what it is happening.

I suspect that r18 is dealing with legal issues after losing their payment processors and are being sued by all the studios for damages who expected to have income from the distribution channels on their website. Now that they're unable to process payments of any kind or even sell things, it seems like they're retaliating against the studios who took legal action by removing all of their movies from the site entirely. Otherwise, there's no rhyme or reason as to which videos have been taken down or why.

That is an interesting theory -

It is very strange, DMM will still accept AMEX for points/video purchases, and I was still able to use points to make a purchase recently (Not located in Japan). I wonder how the relationship between R18 and DMM organizations changed that this is the result.

Being that DMM is somewhat still functional from a payment perspective, and still updating its catalog of available products, why do you think R18 is only entity impacted here?

Really hate to see them go through this.

I don't know what's going on, but I guess it's an issue related to western paid services, that are banning porn with non-consensual sex, even if it is simulated.

Until R18 removes all that porn, they won't let it operate in the West. That's why R18 has problems but DMM, which only operates in Japan, continues to sell titles.

It's just speculation, but it's the only explanation I can find.

It's unacceptable that right now you can't buy JAV from the major studios legally. And It's incomprehensible that it only sells through a single store. Should be more options. A Festa TV is operating normally, but only has a few studios.

Respectfully - I saw this rumor mentioned on another related thread, and I am not so sure... If non-consensual sex themed porn sourced from Japan is being "banned", why would US based studios still be able to produce and distribute?

Also, I have noted that titles across many genres and studios have been pulled, many of which do not fit the non-consensual designation.

Being that purchases on DMM are possible now for US based clients, and their catalog seems unaffected, the payment processing and related fallout angle (Licensing fees, possible increases in the works, split with studios) holds more water in my mind.

Only speculation on my part as well, but if this was the result of some ban, I think that would be the first thing we would see posted on the site as to why they were cutting out the way they have...they would never just put up some vague message about not being able to accept any payments if some insane US policy were to blame.

My contact with their customer service affirmed my R18 and DMM libraries are secure, but they were unable to tell me when payments would be accepted again in the future on the R18 side. I hope soon - my wish list is full!!

As I said, this is just speculation, I have no information. But for example in SexLikeReal they had to remove "extreme" japanese content because of the issue of payment services, and it is not a Japanese website....

I'm just trying to think of the things that has to be happening for them to not accept new account creation and suspension of the subscription service altogether. Only 7 day rentals are available? Nobody wants that, LOL. They will be bleeding cash from here on out, really hope they can steer the ship right but it hasn't looked good ever since they were unable to accept certain credit cards anymore. Whatever it is though, R18 has been very hush hush and pulling titles without any warning has been pretty unfair to all the loyal customers, myself included.

Is it just the certain content being pulled? Or entire catalogues from the publishers that produce that content?

This might be wishful thinking, but the more this situation progresses as it already has, it strikes me as temporary and recoverable.

Think about it from their standpoint -

If they were facing some sort of major existential threat that they knew would result in them folding for good, why pull titles, then restrict payment methods, then cut payments, then stop accepting new members, then only offer rentals??

If they knew it was an unrecoverable spiral they would soon enter, my speculation is that they would have just closed the site without warning or explanation and dealt with the inevitable fallout via all the different related parties/vendors/studios/clients etc.

If they are indeed winding down to a close, they are giving all possible claimants a head start in strategizing how to pick apart their carcass, and I find that very difficult to believe as a course of action, as it is highly illogical.

R18, which is taking a MAJOR hit with all of this activity, is a company that has provided an invaluable service to this community for years now, and has always answered my queries and treated me with the utmost respect, despite being a foreigner and probably not even being high up on their important customer list.
Nice to see I am not the only one here who holds them in high regard and wants to see them get through this and succeed in the long term.

Wait they removed the video from your library or you can still view it but it delisted from buying?
they didn't remove movie from actual purchased. From reading this forum it made it seem that BDSM movies were removed, but they removed other movies with suggestive titles. I only learned this from looking at movies I browsed in the past.
