I have been watching anime all of my life. Since I was a little kid in the 80s in Costa Rica, I knew that Mazinger Z, Minky Momo and Candy Candy where made in Japan. I could easily recognize the differences between the anime and the cartoons made in America an other countries. Even tough everyone wrongfully refer to them as "fabulas chinas"(Chinese cartoons).
The artwork, color, animation and storylines stood up to me more than the cheaper looking and repetitive American cartoons of the same era (I fucking hate everything Hanna Barbera).
Robotech became my number 1 favorite anime for years, the epic space battles the love story and likable characters will always have a special place in my heart. Then in high school, I like other boys, was watching Dragon Ball first series, and it was great funny and filled with adventure. THEN CAME SAILOR MOON.
The first time I ever read anything about it was in a videogame magazine in a article about games being shown in the Shoshinkai of 95 and Sailor Moon games for the Super Famicon catch my eye. The artwork the pretty girls the sailor suits, the fact that it was fighting games everything was pretty intriguing to me. What could be this anime about I wonder?
Latter the Spanish dub was shown in Costa Rica, I waited eagerly for the first episode, and I felt in love with Usagi... Ever since I have been a big fan of Sailor Moon and collected many things with the years.
The new show is different but I like it so far, as it is more accurate to the manga, that being told there are still some little changes.
