Do Japanese non-AV actresses get couch casted? And why do some do AV?

When I first saw Shogun - the TV mini-series in the 1980s and when I watched Japanese movies, I wondered if the actresses have to sleep with the right people to get the part? After all there are loads of potential actresses and thus when supply exceeds demand, there's got to be a selection process that is more than just based on skill and good looks. It clearly used to happen in Hollywood and still does to some extent. So what about Japan?

Then there is my second question. Why does the likes of Yoko Shimada at 57 years old decide to do a Muteki movie? Muteki won't pay her for just pretending to have sex will they? Surely they want value to money, however they disguised the final acts of copulation? Or is it just acting?

Once upon a time the sex didn't have to be real, but now with mosaic a lot thinner there's really no choice. I'm sure the amount MUTEKI paid was a lot if the actress you mentioned is that well known.

don't know what happened in japanese mainstream movies and tv industry, but in AV industry I think its more grey area, if they sleep with people outside from the shooting yes they can do it as escorting job and to gain more money, fucking the right people(s) is more common and more understandable in AV industry
