Do you miss the time when uncensored JAVs had better production values?

I do.

I mean the non-technical things like interesting places for the sets instead of just a studio, chatting and playing with the girls, travels, the actors and actresses did fun things together beside sex, or if the movie has a made-up story, it's often pretty elaborate (including the sets).

These kind of movies are just that much more satisfying to watch when you can control your urge to fast forward to the sex scenes even though many of these older movies don't have particularly pretty girls (some do and they are gold).

Maybe the return is just to small for the companies to make them like this anymore. Big studios censor their vids but they can pay better girls to perform so maybe people prefer to buy their videos even with the censoring. What do you think?

Oh and I really appreciate Siro-Hame (Akibahonpo, latter under Heydouga) for making uncen. vids with pretty good production values but you can still see that they couldn't get top girls so maybe people stop buying their vids and they ceased production

Absolutely, there was a golden period of uncensored JAV, but it didn't last long. Considering it has always been illegal consider ourselves lucky that such a thing even existed temporarily. There were interesting ideas, crazy story setup, big stars (hotties, good actors, and good performers, which are 3 things), a script.

Both Caribbean and Tokyo Hot had semi-regular grand productions such as tropical island sex in the summer or year-end orgy in the winter. There was also a series of anal vids (I think there were 3 vids) with 2 girls in each vid really had a good time with toys, enema and cocks. There were also a phase with several studios doing some football theme vids (was it around the time of 2002 FIFA World Cup??) and some baseball theme vids, (those are all group sex/orgy, my fav). Then another phase of J-idol theme vids, the biggest of them was a loose-series of Caribbean vids with the tag CRB48. Talk about production value CRB48 was it.

Nowadays I hardly even scan the new releases. Most of the girls are just ugly, you might have better luck with FC2. Uncensored industry is as good as dead, for me.

The problem is primarily legal. Since DMM and Amazon don't carry uncensored, their channel to the customers is very narrow. I am actually amazed they managed to make profit and create all those great vids back then.

Actually even the "legal" censored industry is down the same spiral of death. Production value in 2019 is way down compared to say 2016. I predict in 2 years time, we will either be fapping to 3-minutes FC2 microporns or 2013 classics.

ding73ding: while the distribution channel is a bit more limited than censored JAV, sites like Caribbean are still killing it. Don't forget their parent company *dominates* the Japanese live camera industry. I agree that we've seen better uncensored JAV productions in the last decade though. We're showing a title next month filmed in late 2008 that actually uses better cameras than what I see in brand new Carib/HeyZo releases.

Censored JAV of late still is battling a love-hate civil war with mosaic thickness. FC2 and others like HeyDouga are becoming more than just nuisances but legitimate disruption platforms for real uncensored content (not counting leaks) and how does the censored industry react? Thicker mosaic (d'oh!). I may support censored studios mostly and care a lot for the industry, but absolutely detest post-2017 mosaic. It's starting to slightly thin out again, but still can be an eyesore at times.

Speaking of Tokyo-Hot, it was my last and best hope that a studio could finally produce some really great uncensored vids but alas, they just regurgitated the same r***-themed shit till the japanese court took their ability to shoot anymore new vid At least a lot of the girls are top-notch (still hate it that they have to act silly).

As for Caribbeancom today, I have to thank them for showing us Emiri Okazaki in her full glory It's a bit of waste though because instead of making 3 standard vids of her, they could make, say, a fan appreciation vid with Ms. Okazaki. That would go with a (gang)bang

What I remember is that the tokyo-hot studio was reported to the law enforcement regarding their treatment of some the actresses which is a shame because they have so much potential. If only they hadn't make the same r***-themed videos (which is not my taste anyway) maybe the report would never happen.

I don't know what happen with Siro-Hame. If they could regularly get better female performers they could be truly awesome. Fortunately some of their videos are already gold though, especially when they use non seasoned actors (like in some of their gangbang/orgy vids).

Just going to echo how much it sucks Sirohame is no longer releasing uncensored on Heydouga and went strictly to censored content. Was the quality the best? No. But they had variety. Variety of girls, situations, everything.

I was going to laugh it off, because uncensored's golden era was equally unable to sell or promote physical copies out in open. So how can it explain the decline recently.

But then maybe you hit on something. Not just for uncensored, but also, more so, for legit censored JAV. Physical media is in decline, paying customers are going to digital downloads, especially on cell phones. Think about it, how useful it is to have your fapping material in your pocket. You can pull up your favorite girl doing your favorite fetish anywhere, in school/office toilet, in your bed, even in your shower. But without physical media, the production/publication cost falls to almost zero. So FC2 appears. Now you can buy 5 minutes emergency fapping assistance for maybe 200 Yens. Face it most people need no more than 5 minutes to finish the job. Forget buying a 120 minutes DVD that you will end up watching for less than 60 minutes, in your lifetime. Forget monthly subscription. Big productions make no economic sense anymore.
