It is a test of patience it is. I don't know if I should be grateful that there are 8 seeders on the torrent or pissed that their upload speeds are so slow. I mean I am directly connected to 4 of them and there are also other downloaders but.......(expletives go here). Of course the download speed may pick up later....it hasn't for the last few hours but seeing as at this rate it will be a week until I download this then it has plenty of time to improve.

Oh well, it is just the price of getting it for free sometimes. Anyone else ever go through this? (Oh Look! 15kbs a sec! Wow! Now it will only take me 6 days instead of 7.)

I've seen this a few times downloading here, but I think it's just the torrent client reporting a wrong seed/peer count. A peer will eventually come back in the swarm and get me seeded pretty quickly, most of the time.

Did you ever get that torrent downloaded?

It is true that torrent clients can be mislead by erroneous tracker reports caused by anti-P2P organizations (mostly them, so they get the glory here). Mostly these cases are for fake torrents only so a bot can log IP addresses. In this case I could see both my seeders and peers in my torrent client, as well as what they have downloaded and uploaded to and from me.

And no, still haven't gotten that torrent downloaded yet, the 10 KBS turned into less than 5 for the most part, fluctuating with the time of day. Currently at around 96 % though, so I am close. Patience pays off sometimes but it can be frustrating. There are a lot of things that slow down seeding, not just upload speed but how many other torrents you are seeding (then it is your torrent client that chooses how much you seed to whom) and there is your seeding settings (fucking leechers who won't seed and just download are the lowest of the low....all take and no give, the greedy bastards).

Thx for taking notice of my rant though. Letting off a little steam when your torrent is uploading at a snails pace may not actually help any but it sure makes one feel a little better.

I've noticed that a lot of torrents will stay stuck at 99% for a very long time even though there are plenty of seeders. I think this is done intentionally as to keep people seeding for a longer time. Maybe this is what you are running into.

No, though I have seen that before, this particular torrent not only downloaded but there are even more seeders now (me included). The 99% thing is kinda interseting though, sometimes it is good idea to check the files though, just to see exactly what part of the torrent is lagging. Often a seeder will refuse to seed some small insignificant part such as a txt or image file or can't because he didn't download in the first place. I come across a lot of half-dead torrents and there are always a few hardcore downloaders around...just hoping for some seeds or at least some new data. My patience is not that great, I like to see at least a little hope. Right now I have a different torrent stuck at 97% but with little hope of seeds. I will give it a week or so....if that long (at least it is a smaller torrent around 1.5 GB).

Torrents are living digital entities. Like all living things they have needs which must be met in order for them to be healthy and flourish. Porn torrents are probably the hardest to keep healthy but no matter how great the interest in a subject is, it takes effort to keep it alive. The torrent I finished downloading was an anime torrent and there are plenty of dead and dying anime torrents out there. There was this great anime encoder who used an encode called Frozen-Solid. Greatest small encode I ever found, DVD quality to be sure but hardly any of his torrents are alive today. A crying shame that is to be sure. So seed till you bleed people!

Well, I did some hardware upgrades that have significantly improved my download speeds. Who knew it could be as simple as all that. Sure there are some slow torrents around still but most everything is faster for me now. So if anyone else is having slow download speed probblems I suggest looking into a newer Router and Modem and have your internet connection checked. A little upgrade can go a long way.
