but it's starting time is slow

That's easily the worst thing about FireFox. How many times have you clicked to start it and waited... then clicked again because it took so long you thought your first click didn't work? :snooze:

Then you have to wait even longer while two Firefoxes start at the same time! :destroy:

Start up time needs to be improved, hopefully Chrome's fast startup will push FF to improve this area.

Firefox for serious browsing. Chrome for quickies (yeah, you heard me right! ;)). IE8 when I want to smash my computer with a baseball bat 'cause it's so fucking slow.

Never really experienced that..

Maybe when I was like burning something to a disc, extracting a large .rar or 7zip file, and had a HD .mkv playing, but only then...

At that point it's for other reasons..

Never really experienced that..

This was back when I used Windows Vista... Windows often doesn't give any feedback about whether your clicks were processed (cursor doesn't change to "busy"), so it's not always obvious whether FF is starting or your double-click didn't get through.

I don't have the two Firefoxes problem on Linux, but the startup time is still slow.

CHROME, of course I can't speak for anyone else's system but it runs faster than any of those other browsers on all of my computers.

Besides system load the other thing that slows down firefox are the addons themselves.

It's not always like 30++ add ons to load either, there's lots of specific ones that will make your start up crawl probably.

Torbutton is a good example for people that use Tor. Start up firefox with it installed, then uninstall it and start it up again. The difference is so obvious it's scary.

Sure it's all subjective, but there's lots of "well first off..." answers.

The worst part about slow FF startup is the impression it leaves on new users coming from IE. First impressions are very important. :study:

To be both fair and honest though firefox 3.6.6 is beyond AWFUL for so many reasons.

Screws with so many commonly used things and plugins for no apparent reason. Even is widely reported to make google's homepage search to stop working (toolbar still works though)

Is so bad that you almost have to go to an earlier version or try one of the others mentioned until they get things worked out, heh...

Running 3.6.6 here, no problems with Google's homepage.

I do know that some plugins will mess up Google services, such as Ad-Block (if not updated or if configured incorrectly, will mistakenly block scripts used on Google, such as Maps and Gmail).

On the other hand, I have found this thread:
Code:
https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/716464
Apparently some users cannot connect to Google regardless of Firefox version. It seems that there was an error on Google's part (where the site was similarly unable to load necessary scripts), which I can only assume has since been fixed.
