I mean I don't think they are, they have some girls pretty high up that Sell well but none of them have really done anything to make themselves standout and get into serious consideration for things, Minako Komukai is the only one i thought could've potentially broken into award discussions, but we know her situation
The international market is also filled with the USA porn industry, and all of europe it will bring a lot more competition, and cost a lot more to get and hold down a profitable spot within it.
JAV has jujuko/cougar/MILF talent who are way above their counterparts in the USA.
I personally don't agree with that statement but even if that's true, there's a lot of money that would have to be putting in just for the chance of it(Milf/Cougar/Jujuko to be successful.
Blade Runner: a 'conservative' future for JAV is still light years better than what the west is capable of producing. 
I do think though that the west is winning with technology and accessibility: you've sites like X-Art that produce very beautifully shot (if erotically stale) content along with the many VR sites popping up. 4K is much more common in the west too whereas some big companies here are still only releasing titles with SD quality. For accessibility, all you really need to make porn in the west (and 99% of the time when I say 'west', I mean USA) is a smartphone. No need for mosaic application, no big worries about producing physical movies to have stocked in stores, none of that. You can easily make your own site, get billing, send clips to tube sites, and if you made something desirable, the money will start rolling in. Most AV companies still are a slave to distribution.
One of the biggest issues (I think at least) is when you ask the question: "When I buy <studio name>'s movies, I buy them at ___". Up until now, you could fill that blank with online VOD sites like DMM, physical stores, and other distributors but the best way for a studio to survive now is to sell on their own site (ie, like how a western paysite operates) and then maybe a few months after release, they then start to distribute their new titles across the regular distribution channels. This way they make most sales directly instead of receiving the minuscule cuts doing it the old-fashioned way. A few studios now have their own online stores, but most look like afterthoughts and frequently on the same page they'll have links to DMM, Duga, Amazon, etc. for the same movie (<insert WTF Jackie Chan face).

I a weird way it good that the JAV studios aren't influences by the outside world, because that means that they free to go about an do their business. Which has given us some pretty awesome so far. I agree if they were just to allow the selling of all JAV as is overseas they would easily expand their market and profits. I just think that a lot of JAV fans would like to buy and get their hands on hard copies of their favorite jav idols dvd and blue rays. especially they limited edition dvds that come with exclusive Polaroids and print pictures.
I think that most people here are referring to the fact that for as popular busty JAV idols are they can be over look for major industry rewards despite their obvious popularity and success. I don't think that every busty JAV idol falls into this category, but so can see it.
As for the big boobs in Anime. While you do see big boobs everywhere. Their is more of a balance of between big boobs and smaller popularity wise. I also thing their some artist and bouncing physicis that creator like to play with, that you just can't get in the real world. Hopefully since anime will have some influence in sexual prefer as they grow up. We get to see it pay dividends down the road in the future and we see a new generation of Japanese men who like and prefer busty JAV idols to smaller boobs idols and busty JAV idols get more recognition in the industry to a similar level that smaller boob idols get now.
I don't know the current MILF in western porn, I'm rare to watch them now, but the latest I saw them yes I agree with you, JAV has much better MILF talents
I believe in a win-win situation. Perhaps JAV can influence the international market with sales (profits) from its jujuko genre. JAV could use international AV ideas such as increasing budgets and widening talent pool.

Short summary is Yui is kidnapped and held hostage in an unknown village. She is repeatedly r***ing yet most of the assaults are simulated sex (no penetration). If a studio thinks it can market a stinker and get paid then expect more studios to do likewise.
USA ISPs are pushing data caps onto subscribers. IMO streaming 4K on smartphone, forget about VR, is a bad idea.
Perhaps it's a cultural bias but JAV business model needs to be re-evaluated.

Actually it's eerily similar to the origins of JAV when almost all A-list actresses were fakers. This is not a positive development unless it's just a one off.
Older men who will be making the transition. A movie targeted at dying market (literally). IMO it's another reason to dislike censored.

IMO it's a mistake that could limit growth and revenue. JAV would be locked into JDM for years. Less consumers and more stagnation as time goes by (Don't play it again, Sam). Insiders will look back and say "woulda, coulda, shoulda" or its Japanese equivalent.
Not a fan of softcore and certainly won't pay for it.
