Really depends on what you are looking for in a movie I suppose. What might be appealing to some, may be a turn-off (literally ;-)) for others. Personally, I like a little bit of story and build up of suspense before moving to the sex piece. But that's my personal preference.heroines theme is interesting, but unfortunately so far that I have watched from Giga was lack of sex action

Yea, these two are classics. I love these 2 actresses. They really bring out the characters and emotions well. Every scene was acted out perfectly and the perils were believable. TGGP-15 is my most favourite of them all, with the final scene where she gets electrocuted ended nicely and sexy too.
Wish they could do such movies again. The current ones don't have such quality anymore. What say you all?

It's kind of telltale that THP-51 takes the trouble to advertise "Happy End!" on the back cover. As if "sad end" is the norm! I'm not exactly necrophobia, but death is never good for erection, ok?
Let's talk about what (should) make a good heroine AV:
1. Heroine must have some power, not totally helpless.
2. There should be some fighting and/or special effects (FX) scene, no matter how low budget or cheesy,
3. There should be some emotional angle (classic examples being heroine temporarily loosing purpose or confidence mid-show, or the person(s) being rescued needing some emotional support)
4. Nudity (also counting up-skirt shot and gratuitous cleavage) and sex (counting also grabbing and squeezing of tits and ass with cloths on) should be a-plenty. There should never be any stretch of more than 3 minutes without nudity or sex. If it were smartly written, the nudity and/or sex would be interwoven with the above: e.g. heroine's special power is sexual.
5. There should be present at least 3 (prefer all 5) character roles each with dialog (and preferably all would engage in some nudity/sex scenes): heroine, boss villain, minions, person-in-distress/victim, boss/sensei/benefactor to the heroine. A really elaborate heroine AV could even add 2 more character roles: heroine's sidekick (e.g. a second fighter or a tech/logistic specialist) and big boss villain.
6. Heroine should WIN! GIGA and most other vids in this genre is misogynist, but this genre ought to be feministic, more cowgirl, not r***!

Sorry not really my thing I really like some sort of story as a build up to the sex scenes.
To each it's own I guess. I do like the movies that end badly for the heroine. On your points about what makes a good heroine AV:
1. Agree, I also prefer the heroine to be a strong and confident character, not a helpless victim. I do enjoy seeing the heroine's demeanor change throughout the movie though, as events take a turn for the worse for her.
2. Agree again.Part of buidling the story.
3. Yes, could be an interesting angle. Not sure it's a must though.
4. 100% agree with the nudity. I definetly want to see the heroine completely (or almost completely - don't mind the boots ;-)) naked for a good portion of the movie. I also believe there should be at least one full blown sex scene (going all the way) and a good amount of other (non-consensual) sexual acts. I don't like movies which don't take time to build up to the sex scenes though. Just non-stop banging of a girl in a costume, without any kind of story line, just doesn't really do it for me.
5. Not sure I care about the number of characters. I do think the bad guy(s) should be big and badd-ass! Not some of these clowns you sometimes see in Giga movies.
6. I disagree with this one. The Heroine should lose, and should die. In fact, I think a good portion of the movie should build up to the bad ending. Don't get me wrong I love women, but for me this is a key part of this genre.
100% agree! I'll check out TGGP-15 again. It's been a while since I've seen it. Would love to hear other recommendations. I really haven't seen anything else that comes close to these.
My problem with most Giga movies I've seen is that they have too little of the sex and nudity. I like the costumes and the story but at some point they should remember it *is* a porn movie.
I agree that death really takes fun out of a heroine porn. But again that depend on individual preferences. GIGA has great special effects and production value (costumes esp. the heroines) but their plot and character development is not good, so shallow.. Then again their selling point is not the story but the actress herself.
TGGP-15 is to me is one of the best GIGA movies ever made. Mint Asakura should come back and do such scenes. She acts really well. What happened to her anyway?

It's been a while... let me pose the question this way, anyone comes across new releases of heroine (GIGA or otherwise) that are decent to good?

Perhaps the genre has always been for the hardcore Anime/Manga fan? The costumes throughout (not much actual nudity) plays into the fantasy of watching an adult version of a similar property...but with a little naivety? Wanting the act without clearly seeing the act? That or they just like fully clothed sex.
Well that's me! Maybe you too, with a name Casshern. But Giga's gone all wrong about it, or certain type of fans have taken over the genre, basically instead of an adult version of sentai (combat team) or heroine genre, it's just cosplay porn. The costume becomes a fetish, instead of accessory or props to enhance the allure of the actress.
Like some fetish fans gotten to the point that he masturbates on a high heel shoe, even without a woman wearing it. I think a lot GIGA vids have gone the same way.
GHPM-90, not a great movie but stunning actress Miho Tono 通野未帆. In this movie the heroine, played by Miho, saves a girl from a bad guy trying to molest her. Some other bad guys show up as wel, but they are also taken care of by our heroine fairly quickly. After the rescue, the saved girl wonders of, and when Miho finds her again, it turns out that "she turned to the dark side" so to speak. And, not only turned, but also in charge of some evil minions. She tries choking Miho a bit, fails and does some battle with her. Then two mosters show up who take over battling with Miho. Initially they appear to win, and wound Miho. She recovers though, and dispenses of one of the monsters with some sort of power beam (CGI). Right before Miho is about to zap the 2nd monster, looking like a big green lobster of some sorts, the evil witch shows up again and unleashes magic butterflies, yes that's right butterflies!!!, scary as shit! upon Miho. Powerless against these evil butterflies, Miho falls in some sort of unconcious trance, rolling her eyes. When all is done she falls to the ground twitching, still rolling her eyes and pissing in her panties. Then one of the minions of the evil witch shows up, a weird looking dude with a blonde wig. This is where the sex part starts, as he starts to molest our poor heroine. It starts with groping, some kissing and licking and then forcing Miho to suck his thing. Apparantly the ordeal with the butterflies has left Miho drained from power as she's utterly unable to fend off the blonde wigged dude molesting her. During the forced blowjob Miho almost loses conciousness, rolling her eyes again. After the oral ordeal, the bad guys burns a few holes in Miho's outfit, exposing her breasts. Soon after he proceeds to r*** her. After the r*** scene, Miho recovers and transforms into a new outfit. The new outfit is a lot sexier, as it shows a whole lot more skin. After her transformation Miho escapes, only to run into the bad guys again outside. The green lobster monster starts choking her, while the blond wig guy fondles her and admires her beautiful body. The evil girl then shoots a power beam into Miho, who pisses her pants again and drops to the ground unconciuos. She wakes up tied to a cross, where the green lobster starts beating her up a bit. Fairly quickly though, the evel girl takes over. When she has a go at Miho, it's an interesting mix of tenderness, as she caresses and kisses Mio's beautiful body, but inbetween throws the occasional punch at her or squeezes her in her breasts and pussy. When the evil witch has had enough, she shoots another power beam at Miho, who again pisses in her pants, rolls her eyes and apparantly dies.
All in all, I didn't think this was a great movie. The only thing it has going for it is that the lead actress, Miho Tono is a stunning looking girl. She's super hot, especially in the 2nd outfit she wears. Her acting in this movie wasn't great though. Her fighting scenes weren't very convincing, and her emotional palet (expressions, etc.) was limited. As a heroine she looked awfully weak at times, not putting up much of a fight. Also, she overdid the eye rolling thing. To much of it, and to soon. As for the bad guys, not very impressive either. At least not the dude with the wig. It might have been more interesting if the green lobster would have joined in some sex scene with Miho. The butterflies were an absolute lowpoint and the CGI generated powerbeams somehow felt like a "shortcut". The "girl on girl" angle was interesting, but should have been taken a bit further.
