AI upscaling is crazy technology that I never thought possible. It doesn't quite work like the silly "enhance" feature does in various movies to see a car license plate, but it does still do a phenomenal job of cleaning up a noisy image and eliminating blur while still preserving picture quality. It really likes trees too. Anyway, AI upscaling has previously only been available for pictures and the process of stripping a movie down to individual frames and piecing it back together could easily set you back a week of processing time.
So, Topaz just released their video AI software called Video Enhance AI (release candidate 1.02), which I promptly bought as I was very impressed with their Gigapixel AI software. It's simply amazing. AI upscaling a standard definition 2 hour video to HD takes just 12 hours on a 2080 TI.
I have to admit, I actively avoided GIGA superhero movies because they only came in SD quality. But now I'm all in and working feverishly to get them upscaled. I wanted to set down a few rules/guidelines for what I'm doing going forward:
1. I'm only upscaling videos using the best quality video available.
2. Upscaled videos will be a random assortment between GIGA and Zen based on my preferences.
3. Aiming for older videos first, ZEOD-70 will be an exception for now to get started.
4. No requests please.
