For years I read you should back up files. I never did until recently. I had a lap with a good collection of various pics and vids that crashed. I have not given up on recovering the files. But I don't store any porn on any hard drive anymore. I use external hard drives for all that smut.Currently, I am looking into finding the most robust way to store my collection in case of a hard drive fail or something alone those lines. I thought possibly a cloud based storage system would be good, e.g. Mediafire, but no so sure they allow pornographic content to be uploaded and stored on their site.
Throw me some ideas..
Have you tried taking the hard drive out of the laptop and attaching as an external to see if you could salvage your files? For years I read you should back up files. I never did until recently. No but I will. Thanks.Have you tried taking the hard drive out of the laptop and attaching as an external to see if you could salvage your files?
Any Luck?No but I will. Thanks.
I'm still using the 50GB discs myself. Same reasons. Lost my HDD6 years back. That was 2TB I couldn't recover.Any Luck?
Also, I just wanted to add that I mainly use BD-R discs. I get 15TB worth for $137 USD, which gives me double the storage for even less cost than an 8TB external is. Only issue is burning. Plus, if I have an issue, like a bad disc, I only lose 25GB or less, whereas if a Drive goes bad... I'd lose everything. They call it spinning rust for a reason!
I started downloading porn about 15 years ago. When I started there was some good stuff out there. I had 3 or 4 laptops that crashed and now I am on my 3rd desk top. Only recently I wish I have always done what I do now, I put it all on external hard drives. The only reason, lately it seems harder to recover what I spent hours searching for. Big brother is not chasing anyone, they finally figured out it's easier to shut stuff down.Currently, I am looking into finding the most robust way to store my collection in case of a hard drive fail or something alone those lines. I thought possibly a cloud based storage system would be good, e.g. Mediafire, but no so sure they allow pornographic content to be uploaded and stored on their site.

How do you get plex to download JAV metadata ?I recently finally built a server with unRaid as the OS. I have two 18TB drives + 1 2TB nvme drive for downloads with capacity for up to 26 HHDS (about 468TB total) and 5 internal SSDs. I have a thriving movie and tv series collection as well as some of my favorite JAV on it and I watch it all through Plex, a wonderful app. I've been trying to copy more of my JAV collection over but, since I have 2GB Google Fiber, I am downloading about as fast as I can buy new storage. I am, for now moving everything new to two external 5TB SSDs monthly. I can't currently afford to get the external SSDs (about $250) to archive and new 18TB drives (about $350) in the same month so I have been getting the external SSDs and waiting on bigger paychecks to save for additional internal HDDs.
I do feel that backing up to the external SSDs is sufficient since, once the drive is full, it gets stored away, though, thinking about it, if they got stolen for my place was wrecked destroying them, well, it would all be gone. The idea of having some kind of cloud storage would be great or figure out how to share it all out to others who I could download from if something happened to my hardware.
Has there been any talk or considerations on some kind of cloud storage solution or sharing via plex? I would be willing to share what I have if others are also able and willing to share. Sharing via torrents is an option but it would probably no longer be available in a few years from those who downloaded. Possibly sharing on a private tracker would help the files persist longer for sharing.
Anyone have additional thoughts or ideas?
11TB is too small for my samsung 870 evo11TB isn't that much,
especially if it's those 8-11GB FHD movies.
Where are you pulling these numbers?server with 32TB of RAID5 storage ..28TB usage
about US$300 total cost
