Fertility Rate, 2012

France 2.01
United Kingdom 1.90
Sweden 1.90
United States 1.88
Norway 1.85
Finland 1.80
Netherlands 1.72
Canada 1.61
Russia 1.59
Czech Republic 1.45
Austria 1.44
Japan 1.41
Italy 1.40
Germany 1.38
Ukraine 1.35
Slovakia 1.34
Greece 1.34
Spain 1.32
Poland 1.30
Portugal 1.28

There doesn't seem to be much relationship between porn consumption and amount of children. Lack of children seems to be due to economic factors. Keep in mind, a fertility rate of 2.10 (children per woman) is required to keep the population stable. That is called the replacement level fertility rate. So all industrialized countries would be seeing population decline if not for immigration. As you can see, Japan's situation isn't as dire as some other countries in Europe, most notably Portugal. The main difference with Japan vs most other countries is the lack of immigration.

Yes, but immigration is not a solution for that problem. A solution would be to find the cause for it. And for the other countries the standard of living should be improved.

Well immigration does provide some quick fix, that's as good as you can expect from politicians now.

And I never said porn causes low fertility rate. Nor do I feel like discussing big societal issues across different countries, not on Akiba.

But some particular Japan issues relating to AV, yes. One: low fertility rate is one thing, being uninterested in a relationship, marriage, and/or even intercourse with another human being, that's pretty fucked up. Say compared with Germans, they are not having kids, they make and watch a lot of porn, but they are dating and marrying and divorcing. I heard about herbivores in Japan but reading it's about 60% of men and women in reproductive age group, that's shocking.

Two: the per capita expenditure on porn must be ridiculous in Japan, consider the size of the industry compared to population/target market. So I think there's plenty of economic fundamentals (unlike Poland) but Japanese workers chose to spend their disposable income on AV and anime and collectible figures rather than on dating and kids. Or even on prostitutes!? I think a herbivore is too meek to even go to a soapland, but he buys/rent a soapland vid and masturbate.

This annoys me quite a bit. I want to watch porn, not a pseudodocumentary of a money-for-sexual-service transaction. In US/Euro porn you rarely (not never) see prostitutes in the story, even a stripper is uncommon. Soapland porn is pretty unique to JAV.

Well over a year on my collection has increased to 2.5GB but to be fair I have less videos the increase in size is accounted for by replacing existing videos with HD versions. In part thanks to some of my fav actresses retiring.

Though I spend fewer hours searching and downloading per week, where as it was hours on a daily basis when I first posted here.

Curious to see how the original thread posters are getting on over 1 year on.

In my case, about 12 TB. More than I will enjoy the rest of my life, despite which I remain accumulating and accumulating videos. I'm "sick", I know.

I prefer SD videos because I value more the number of films that its image quality.

I spend about an hour a day, including search for new materials, their classification and enjoyment.

My favorite tools to download movies are an Uploaded premium account, jDownloader, and sites like javlibrary.com and javarchive.com. I visit it daily to see what's new, mainly about Netorade/Cuckold, my favorite theme.

:apa:

No! No! No, you're not sick! It's completely normal to download stuff that you like out of fear of it not being available on the internet one day! So, you see, you're just preserving awesome stuff, for yourself and for others, too! And that's a good thing! I do that, too! I bet everyone does that! So, you see, you're not sick... you're dedicated! We're all just... dedicated! :haha:

Slightly OT, but does anyone know of any good database software for JAV? Like, to tag, title, classify, grab covers, etc? Kind of like Kodi, but for porn...

Wow! I split my drives a while back. Now I have 6 HDD that are either 500GB or 2TB in siz . That way I won't die if a single drive fails with so much on it.

Yeah, better to not "throw all eggs into one basket" when it comes to HDDs.

When you buy external HDD, buy 2.5" drive. They are designed for portable enviroment so they run less hot and they are less fragile. And you buy 2.5" HDD, it probably means 2TB or less.

Another factor how many platters the drive has. More pltters, more chance of failure. So the slimmer the drive, the better.

Excellent advice!
