How safe is it to purchase JAV movies to import unto USA?

I'm considering buying some DVDs, but have no idea how safe it is. I understand other places are more sensitive about it, but I'm wondering who else here has had any bad experience importing JAV into the US.

Looking up porn laws on Wikipedia led to a page concerning US Customs law on importing obscenities or smut [not necessarily regular porn, maybe only for bestiality or scat], but that page is dead, and is not even on the customs website.

Besides, US states differ, so maybe a EMS delivery at a border state may get into trouble whereas the destination state maight not.

Theoretically they could confiscate it (it would fall under 'obscene' if customs wants it to) and you'd be out whatever $ you spent but the chances are incredibly low. Realistically unless you're crossing through a border in person, it won't be confiscated. I have had some (non-porn) stuff seized by customs before because I didn't have proper documentation and the stuff wasn't so expensive that it was worth missing my connecting flight so IDK what happened to it.

If you get EMS or even regular mail delivery, your stuff will be delivered assuming the seller is legit. I can't think of a package I had that was checked by a postal service anywhere in the world. I have had a few packages inspected by DHL and other couriers to ensure they get their delivery fees and 'duties'. USPS likely goes through millions of packages a day. The chances they pick your tiny, super light package containing a couple of DVDs is so extremely low, it's probably worth the 'risk'.

Yeah, the seller is legit and uses EMS.

Squareplus is legit. My DVDs came discreetly inside the box they were wrapped and taped in newspaper. No issues with customs, thankfully.
